Just bought Onkyo 605 now need speakers help me choose from the following

What are you looking for in a speaker package, are you wanting a 5.1/7.1 type home theater package like the ones you have listed? Or do you want to go the route of starting off with a solid pair of bookshelf speakers and add more over time?

The packages that you have listed all have positive reviews in general. But considering since you bought the 605 I would go ahead and get the Onkyo SKS-HT540 7.1 package so that you are already ready for when you start listening to HD audio formats...

I would look at tsto.com....they've got some good quality speaker sets in this price range you might consider. Although you'll have to shell out more for a subwoofer in this case.


I've also heard good things about the Insignia line Best Buy sells, don't know what sort a package deal would cost. But there have been a few "best bang for your buck threads" on these over the past several months worth searching for.

I have the 605 with the tss450s and I'm sort of kicking myself. You don't get much in the way of mids with the 450s. The sub, fronts and surrounds are good, but you'll want more mid/lowend in the center channel.

For standard dolby and HD audio formats the sound is good. But if you watch a good amount of TV and the shows are not dolby, it gets annoying. I'm looking into replacing the center now. Too much on the high end, even with the sub up and the freq ranges skewed low.
