The Holiday season is coming up so there are some really good deals on HDTVs right now. I'm looking to spend between 1000-1500 and want a minimum of 42". Here are the ones that I've found so far through my research, however i'm open for suggestions.

1)
Samsung 50" DLP Rear Projection HDTV
Model #: SAM HLT5076S
Price: 1299 (500 off from Circuit City)
2)
Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV
Model #: PAN TH42PZ77U
Price: 1499
3)
LG - 47" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
Model: 47LC7DF | SKU: 8278197
Price: 1499
4)
LG - 50" 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
Model: 50PC5D | SKU: 8254355
Price: 1399
5)
Sony - BRAVIA 50" 1080p Rear-Projection LCD HDTV
Model: KDF-50E3000 | SKU: 8390537
Price: 1424
6)
Philips 42" LCD HDTV
Model #: PHL 42PFL7422D
Price: 1250

Those are the only ones that I have stumbled across in my research, I am certainly open to any ideas. I appreciate everyone's opinion!

Post your viewing distance and use(HD,SD,DVD,Game) and you'll get better responses from the "experts".

I can vote NO on the DLP. I just had 2 5076s and both had bad geometry problems. Still waiting for Samsung to pick up the second and give me a refund. I just ordered a 75u 50" panasonic plasma. IT will be square. This model 5076s is plagued with many problems. It has a FANTASTIC picture and if you get a set with no problems, its a bargain, but consider yourself warned.

Viewing distance would be normal living room distance 7-10 feet? Will be used for both HD and SD but more SD right now (just broadcast HD). Also have an Xbox 360 with an HD DVD Player

The LCD questions would get a better response in the LCD section of the forum
