i probably shouldnt be posting this, but what the hell. lets see what you guys think. i noticed alot of people went with 720p projectors. on a smx hd cinascreen (grey) can you tell the difference from 720p - 1080p. if not then i take it as saving money. before i spend the money i would like to know what would suit me. i play halo 3 alot and watch movies aswell. thank you

720 will still do a good job especially with HD sources, but having seen it for myself, nothing beats CIH at 1080...

I have played halo 3 and watched a movies (both SD and HD-DVD) in addition to HD DirecTV on my AX100 720p projecting onto the regular SMX fabric and its awsome. I just use the zoom method for 2.35:1 right now until I fabricate a lens, but you will not be dissapointed no matter which way you go. Mine is projecting onto a 10' wide (120"x51") 2.35:1 screen with viewing distances at 13.5' and 19.5'.

I suppose in theory a 720p versus 1080p projector should make less difference on 2.35 CH material than on 16:9 material. In the case of 2.35 CH you are scaling 850 pixels approx. to either 720 or 1080 pixels; in the case of 16:9 you are scaling to 720 pixels or native to 1080.

I do agree with CAVX, however, that once you have gone 1080p you 'aint going back.
