Some of that document is based on reviews in the "Speakerquest" thread that does look at some Dynaudio speakers (and Salk and many others).

The Brazilian rosewood is very expensive so we've opted to go for a similar look but will use a less costly wood (Santos Rosewood with a little red dye added). My wife is still deciding whether or not we should get the SongCenter right away as well, but we're definitely go to pull the trigger on the Song Tower's. I'm really glad to hear your good news. Santos Rosewood looks great. I installed nameplates on my STs after Jim sent them. It should be easy to mount them on the back of the cabinet.

My reason for commenting was the fact that SO MANY PEOPLE complain about the wait times they make it seem like it's many months before they get something. I doubt anyone is confused into thinking that they're not ordering custom speakers from Jim, and I figured they would know there was a wait. Jim obviously isn't sitting around not doing anything. I suspect his business may outgrow what he can adequately provide so I want to get mine soon enough that he doesn't outsource anything!

But I can tell you I placed my deposit on March 2 for a pair of STs in Walnut. He has to stain them anyway so I asked for a tint darker than standard but no exotic color or wood or special order - just the standard walnut stained a bit darker than normal.

On March 13, I emailed for an update and Jim said the speakers were in sanding stage and would be ready by the next week. When I did not hear anything I emailed once again on March 31 and he said he was not happy with the finish and would spray them again and that the final assembly would take place the next day (April 1). That is the last I've heard.

So, IF this is normal and IF they arrive next week I would tell anyone that asks this question to expect at least six weeks from time of deposit to delivery for anything but black.
