I am not very far from you, but have the HT2-TL and HT2C with RAAL. Ping me if interested.

I did sell my SongTowers w/ domes a couple months back locally - perhaps the owner will notice your post.

Good call. I own the SongTowers and absolutely love them. I heard the HT2-TL's at a local's house and absolutely fell in love with the bass response. I'd probably have upgraded if it was financially feasible. The SongTowers are phenomenal speakers though and I've never really ever had upgrade-itis.

Congratulations Warp

They are simply beautiful, here I thought you already owned a pair Salks..

I was just read an ad on Agon of some SoundScape, and all that goes into a monitor, just bursting with precious drivers, caps, etc...

Enjoy, and would love to read your thoughts on them

That anarchy driver used for those soundscapes is not very sensitive to my knowledge.

So feed them tons of power

It's actually a good bit more sensitive than the factory spec. That's why we ran into some trouble with it when we doubled up on the woofers in a WWMT. The Accuton couldn't keep up with the output of dual Anarchy's. And the Anarchy's themselves didn't go as low as claimed, which is the flip side of the higher sensitivity. But a single Anarchy pumping along side the Accuton and RAAL can work very well assuming you have a sub to fill in the bottom. The last time I checked, Warpdrive only had an 18" sub or two on hand, so I'm afraid he'll just have to live with anemic bass. Pity.

Congratulations Warp!!!!!! did you drop your 'digms? Or keeping them as "surrounds" =) I think you got a great deal on your Salks, good nab. Anxious to read what you think about them after getting everything integrated in that massive room... unless of course these are for your bedroom system.
Cheers, Patrick and enjoy.

That is anemic. I prefer at least four subs.

In his bedroom he "only" has one 18" LMS5400 in a Funkwaves custom cabinet. But in his great room he has six 18" LMS5400's in three dual opposed gigantic boxs, and one TC3000 behind the LP, so I think he wins.

Hopefully by the end of the week - its been an incredible flurry of emails back and forth with Paul, great guy, and I kinda feel horrible for the acquisition details... Paul I wish you all the best with your up coming surgeries.... Its been a pleasure speaking with you... Let me tell you the details of this transaction while out of town during the Le Mans Race on a Saturday morning through the Postal Service is no less then tad bit of a balancing act in timing as well as financial manipulation in itself....

Yo - B, I'm thinking I'm going to be charging a listening fee

Mr Funk Meister So great to still see you frequent the forums....
Yes as Nuance specified I'm looking for an upgrade in the horizontal lounge department... Reading for what truly seems like years about all your journeys and speaker upgrades and hearing Terry's and Brandon's ribbon based Salk speakers numerous times, I have been longing to make the move myself....

In fact - I was actually researching utilizing these same drivers and a custom DIY build in curved cabinets which would take me down the road of a great amount of work... I still may or may not head down that lonesome journey, but there is no question I will require some major assistance if I do....

Hmmmm I have always truly wondered what multiple subs would sound like.... perhaps someday.... I'm sure that would be really cool....

Paul asked if I could post that his stands are still for sale to anyone interested, If I didn't have stands I would have got those as well with SS 7's...

I know, right? It's a chance for him to yet again ask us to get into his bed. LOL!

Brandon, between this thread and the Ascend thread I think we owe it to the forum and ourselves to hold another GTG ASAP, especially now that your Ascends have been upgraded to the production model. I only wish we had a dome version of the ST's and a ribbon version of the Ascend Towers as well. Do you want to revive the SE WI GTG thread and start throwing out locations and dates? If I remember correctly, this was going to be a larger event, no?

Ha!
Sounds like a plan, I can revive the old thread and see who wants to come out this time around. I think we may need to pick a date/location first before opening it up. I have occasional weekend availability in September and October if that works? If I recall, some out of towners were interested in attending if the dates work.

Most of the Saturdays in Sept. and Oct. are open for me, so let's get the ball moving. You've got mail!

What was the upgrade?

Not really an upgrade but rather the modified (and now production) crossover was changed. A capacitor was removed IIRC for the mid driver resulting in better driver integration and smoother mids in general.
edit: also forgot to mention a small change to the tweeter itself.

Are the SS7's also an open back midrange like the SS10/12

Yes they are !!!

this is what drew me to them so heavily and I'm really looking forward to their arrival - I hope I can get them integrated into my room as my towers now are about 14" from the wall, I will have a little room to play with if I need to bring them out a bit, maybe up to 18"....

IMO - I really prefer to have a set of large bookshelves and work my sub separate over the choice of a full range tower every time...

Interesting. The prototype wasn't, since it was meant to be a surround, and who knows where they would end up being positioned. When Paul expressed interest in using them as mains, I voiced down the mids and highs a little to provide a firmer bass foundation, but never heard them with open backs. I recall Jim saying that opening the back made all the difference in terms of sound stage depth. I wouldn't mind hearing them some time.

I think the WWMT version was the only open-back one.
Maybe Jim or Paul can help out here.

Dennis,
This may be a dumb question, but other than bass response, how close do the SS monitors sound in comparison to their larger brothers? I am fortunate to live close to Warpdrv so I will get to hear them soon, and I am excited to do so! After reading so many good things about the SS's, this will be my chance to finally experience them. I think the monitor was a great idea considering folks like Warp have plenty of subs to handle the low end so why pay for bass twice For less than $5K, its half the price of the SS10's!

Warpdrv, TJHUB, Nuance.......lets firm up that GTG date!
