Jerry-

Thanks for the reminder, I think I've asked you that already. Good to know about the power, since mine will be crossed over at 60 or 80hz. Thanks again!

Mine got held up in the veneer stage for some reason, even though mine have no veneer and are satin black. They are in the sanding phase at the moment...

I asked about that since they are the same price and was told the SE Scout would be better than the new Traveler , but who knows . I just thought getting 1 of 25 would be neat and its
got some good specs I think I will be more than happy

Interesting remarks/review on the new Veracity ST, from someone who has owned most of the SongTower line:

Wow, the classic "a veil has been lifted" even.wink.gif
post #8803 of 9127
^Ha, saw that too.

I'm thinking the majority of these dramatic differences are just because he's had an adrenaline kick from getting (more) new speakers. I've been there myself.

Once they're all settled in, and he's settled down some, I would expect the differences to be more subtle. If not, that means there was something wrong with the older ones, no?

I know this is a sub question but I didn't find a Salk/Rythmik thread so I figure I'll get an answer here. Does anyone know what amplifier comes with the Salk/Rythmik 15in no passives sub?

For those waiting on the W16 based speakers, Jim posted on AC that the W16's are back ordered everywhere so he had to get them from Canada. They are in route now.

One of the AVA Grado longhorn golds. They're only $300 so I figured it would be a good start.

I saw that this morning also. My cabinets are not quite ready for them yet, but it shouldn't be too much longer!

It has been awhile since I've visited this thread. I'm considering ordering a pair of Super Charged STs to replace my STs with the dome tweeter. I've had my STs for over two years and I couldn't be happier with their performance. But since ordering the STs my music tastes have changed from mostly rock to jazz. So I'm thinking the SC STs would be a nice improvement over the standard STs with the dome tweeter. I'm sitting here listening to Patricia Barber's Café Blue SACD and I'm wondering how much better can these speakers sound smile.gif. If I stop buying music for a few months I might save enough to buy the SC STs and a SC Song Center wink.gif. I'm thinking of placing the order in early fall in time for the winter music listening season. The biggest question will be what veneer and color to pick...............

I have been thinking along the same lines.Except I would be looking at the reg ST with dome due to budget.I currently have Monitor Audio rx6s and they are very nice speakers just wondering how much of an upgrade the ST,S with dome would be.I would be matching them with a HSU 10' sub. As far as finish I love the curly walnut.I was really thinking about using the rx6s as surrounds, but I don't know how that would work out.Currently have polk in-walls as surrounds.

^^^^ The MA rx6s is quite good. I do not own the ST so no comment. But I think you would consider a audition to find out for yourself.

Suggest looking at the new Veracity ST. Sounds like a very interesting speaker.

Jim,

I would love to step up to the Veracity ST but I'm pushing my budget with the Super Charged ST. The price difference is $700 and the difference might be just a bit better bass response. When I'm ready to order I'll talk to Jim and see what would be the best choice between the two speakers.

I was in the same boat as you. I went into this originally planning to buy standard Songtowers and a Songcenter. After listening to a HT2-TL I stretched my budget out to the SCST and the SCSC. Jim told me about the W16 option (now known as the Veracity ST) and I had to really sit down and decide if I could stretch that much farther. The problem I knew was even though I told myself for WAF I needed to stay in a SCST size speaker if I pushed my budget up to the Veracity I would end up trying to push myself up to the HT2-TL's and my budget was strained as it was. In the end as I am mostly a home theater guy and will be running a sub/s I stuck with the SCST. Jim said it would move more air down low, and I believe Dennis has made some of those same comments. I would guess if you are a 2 channel guy sans sub it may be worth it.

Well you know my music tastes from the other forum, mostly jazz. I can say my SCSTs are amazing at music reproduction. I don't feel I'm missing anything and I'm running a 2.0 sans sub. I"m sure the W16s would improve some, but I have to wonder where the point of diminishing returns is. The SCST was a stretch to my budget, having planned on regular ST. A year end bonus helped push me over the edge! The veracity ST didn't exist at the time, but had it I wouldn't have gone another 700 bucks.

My reference recording is a 2L jazz ensemble's album, Quiet Winter Nights (192/24) With my SCSTs its like they are in my living room.

I'm sure you'll be happy with the upgrade what ever you decide.

When Sebastian saw (and heard) our SoundScape 8's at Expona in Chicago, he knew what he wanted.

This is a very nice batch of veneer and we are fast running out of it. But we did have enough for this pair of SoundScape 8's and a couple of other pairs of speakers we are currently working on. Like my personal pair, these were done in a hand-rubbed, high gloss finish.

Sebastian will arrive within the next hour or so to pick them up and take them home.

Here are some pictures...

And a close-up...

Happy listening Sebastian!

- Jim
