I got nothing better to do then send the center back and forth because Jim forgot 2x to correct the back plate and already fixed the finish once and it didn't last 30 days
If something has the potential to warp in 30 days, yeah that should probably be mentioned up front. Jim also said though that in all his years working with wood, he'd never seen wood act quite like this. I think it's fair to say that the guy has a lot of experience working with wood, and is better qualified to make this judgment call than either you or I.
My only point was that wood is a natural product, and a little common sense will tell you that imperfections can and DO happen. This is why big furniture manufacturers place warnings on all their wood products that imperfections are normal. I guess we should expect Salk to start labeling their speakers with all kinds of warnings to prevent us from getting angry when they happen, and then they can throw their hands in the air looking clueless and say "Well, I told you on the insert (that you probably didn't read) that came with your speakers!"
As far as the binding post issue, yeah you've got a good point. I probably wouldn't care because I don't look at the binding posts on my speakers, and neither does anyone else, but I also understand the need/want for perfection when spending thousands of dollars. Jim admitted publicly they made a mistake (twice) on that one. He's also saying if you wanted them to pay the $25 shipping, all you had to do was ask. That sounds pretty reasonable to me.
And you're not talking to a wall. You're just acting a bit irrational here. Most people are willing to side with those whose views they align with. Most of us here love Jim Salk and his products, so we aren't willing to jump on the hating Jim Salk bandwagon with you. Good luck.Edited by thirdeye11 - 8/4/13 at 12:03pm
