Yes, if you choose the ribbon option you get a custom version of the 70-20XR, otherwise the standard tweeter in the ST is the Hiquphon OW2.

You can get the two Dayton HO18's for $250 each and power both of them with a single Behringer iNuke6000dsp for under $500, or step down to the Behringer iNuke3000 for around $250. If you go with two HO18's and an iNuke3000, that comes to $750, (not including wood or binding post) and would be much much better than the Rythmik. You might ask Jim if he can use the HO18 and build a custom, matching enclosures to match your Bamboo SongTowers!

I'm curious why the Dayton HO18's would be so much better than the Rythmiks. Is it output, resoution or some other quality that would make it a better choice? I ask because most subwoofers seem to be judged on output at a certain THD and I see little regarding the actual sound quality of the bass.

Still on session 3 :(.

All good things come to those who wait.

I suppose anyone who learned about Salk speakers knows of the wait time and how it's all in good reason.
Shadowing my bad mood into here however is not in good reasoning. Sorry Salksound

How long does it take have Song Towers made up?

Jim has always said that tax time is his busiest season. I'm guessing that this time of year is also a busy one. I got mine about this time last year and it took a few weeks longer than I expected, but that was ok. I suspect there are a large number of orders in with hopes for Xmas.

It is well worth the wait...

Every speaker is custom made so it takes time. How long depends on current orders. It's a small shop so things can get backed up when a lot of orders are submitted. I ordered mine in early March during the busy tax refund season and it too about 2 and a half months before they were delivered. And I went with a standard model and common veneer. If you start tweaking designs or are in the market for some exotic wood build time will only increase. But the wait is worth it. It's been a year and a half and I have yet to experience even a moment of regret.

A friend of mine waiting for his SS8s just found out the other day that his Salks are a lot further along than the progress meter indicated (it was stuck at sealer session 2 for some time).

I'm kind of glad the meter wasn't there when I ordered my HT2-TLs. It would have drove me crazy checking the meter all the time! biggrin.gif

What Jim needs to do is put a bunch of banner ads and whatnot on that project tracker page, the click traffic would be off the charts! With all the Pavlovian clicking I was doing, I swear he would've made an extra $500 off of me alone. biggrin.gif

btw, my 5.0 system took 2.5 months to be delivered, it was absolutely worth the wait.

I've been on stage 4 for over a week now. I check about 2 to 3x a day lol I'm hoping to get my St's before Xmas. It's been about 2 months so far. The only reason the wait is bearable is because the speakers are going in my family room and not my HT. I just want to see what they look like. I can't even remember what the veneer that I picked looks like eek.gif
post #9072 of 9127

I placed my oder on Sept 20th. Standard veneer. I sent Jim an email about the progress and he quickly replied there was someone in the shop who took a pic of my ST's. I wake this morning, check the Audio Circle and BOOM! There was my dusty speakers looking KILLER! The wait is VERY hard, but with everyone saying it's worth it, I have t believe it is! I think Jim wants to have every product he builds as perfect as can be. Hell, his name is on them, so why wouldn't he? Basically, you can't rush quality like this.

It's tough to imagine the finish I ordered is standard.

Here's one!

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 85

HA! So true. I click that tracker about 15 times a day, literally.

I sure hope so. Those 3-4 days while being shipped is going to be crazy.

How are yours performing? What's driving them?

They're performing great. I really, really love my Salks. My AVR is a Denon 4311.

No, he doesn't. He didn't with my SCSTs anyway. Of course mine was one of the more common finishes, even for standard finishes. Dark Curly Cherry. I think it may depend on whether or not he needs more images for his website.

He did for mine, but they were different than most that I've seen:

Thank you, sir! They still catch my attention every time too, and I get to see and hear them every day! They're the nicest pieces of furniture that I own.

Got mine yesterday! Only took two days with FedEx. After a few days of listening and enjoying their sound and beauty, I'll be posting pics and impressions. For now I listen!

Very happy.

Congrats & enjoy!

Boom!

Sorry about that blurry pic. It's too early to do it over ;)

I am a happy  man!
