I just recently picked up an LCD and a PS3, however this has put me way in the RED and I don't have any $$$ to get a receiver until after income tax comes. I do have an older receiver (non HDMI) Panasonic SA-HE100, that I want to hook up for Blu-ray and the HD cable box. I currently have an HDMI cable running from the PS3 to the LCD and a 2nd HDMI cable from the LCD to the cable box. Now the question is, can I run OPTICAL OUT on the PS3 to the OPTICAL IN on the receiver and run the OPTICAL OUT on the cable box to the other OPTICAL IN on the receiver? Since HDMI carries audio will it override the OPTICAL OUT on the TV? If so, does this mean that I have to use Component instead of HDMI for my PS3 and cable box? Thanks for the help.
