SSP & Pre/Pros that support HDMI Audio MPCM - Page 2

But hereis a yes.

The question is whether it will be 5.1 PCM or 7.1 PCM.

Thanks, at least one person says that he is using the 1069 through HDMI so it does receive multi-channel PCM. Hopefully it would be 7.1 as the processor has 7.1 analog in and 7.1 pre-out but then I am just assuming that it would be the same for PCM over HDMI.

Got it.

The Rotel Owner's thread claims HDMI MPCM as confirmed, although it is not clear whether it is 5.1 or 7.1. The manual is not online, so I asked them. Maybe they will respond. I put it in 7.1 for now.

Rudolpht,

I put in some links for the AVR tracking thread I found.

I used to own a Yamaha AVR - it was my first. Z11 looks impressive.

What about the B&K REF 70 shouldn't it be in the rumor announcement section ?

It was announced at CEIDA? Got any details? I can't find any.

Thank you. That thread could use some work, but if the custodian is half as energetic as you, it will get fixed up. It's interesting that I'll use the Z11 with external amps, and there are few rivaled pre-amps. Pioneer Elite SC-09TX is another flagship that the preamp folks should emulate.

Could you add the McIntosh VP1000 http://www.mcintoshlabs.com/mcprod/....00%20Final.pdf
& VA1000
A search of "VA1000" @ Mcintosh revealed nothing. What is it?

Actually, I went further, I looked at all the listed Mcintosh video processors and SSPs and found none that supported MPCM. I even checked the manuals of a couple of the latest models. So I am a bit confused.

The VP1000 is out, the VA1000 is due in Jan. It is the highest end audio processor. It's similar to the Cary 2 box solution on steroids. The difference is the video piece came out first. Here's a connection diagram
http://www.mcintoshlabs.com/mcprod/....vp1000-mc2.pdf

Here's an older article on the AP1000 + VP1000 from the CEDIA 2006 show.
http://www.audioholics.com/news/trad...000-processors

It's real this January, but like the Cary 11v info, the real AP1000 info is scarce.

stay away from the VP1000, save your money and buy something like the DVDO iScan VP50. And if the AP1000 is as cheap as the MX135/136 it fail.

If I read the threads on the VP50+ I'm scared, regardless this thread is more in the spirit of the audio playing advanced codes and multi-channel PCM, the VP50 actually makes this much harder.

The AP1000+VP1000 is big $s (US or Canadian ), and there is relatively little info, but they do marry (not exactly but in theory like the Cary 11V+11A

Is there a good thread on these to reference? The AP1000 is significantly different than the MX135/136 but some more info and hands on experience would be helpful.

It will be the same re badge like the rest of the Mac line, the only difference is that the AP1000 will use room correction (from someone else obviously). Just buy the new integra and be done with it, simple.

Anything a little more substantive. I'm really interested in these pieces so analysis would be good. Are you saying an AP1000 is a rebadged Onkyo 885?????

Do you work for Onkyo? This is the 94th time you've tried to cram it down our throats.

Mcintosh is not connected with onkyo but with denon.

For the people that do not want to run a receiver or need XLR connections it is the perfect choice.

The best news for the AP1000/MX137 would be found here, last I read was the AP1000 and MX137 were a long way off.

What amazes me about the Lexicon is that it has a 7.1 analogue inputs but the HDMI will only pass 5.1 PCM. Hard to believe a new product in todays time will do this.

Tracked down and added all CEDIA announcements I could find.
Eric,
Need to point to a different AVR thread, the one you are pointing to seems DOA. Actually I think you could do a listing under the PrePro for folks that are using AVRs with Amps, effectively like PrePros to get the features required.

Also please list the AVM-50 next to the D2 in terms of capabilities.

AVM50 is already there, look again.

How about you start an AVR thread then? AVR status thread #2 - its easy to do even copy the original data and add to it if you want. I will link to it if you restart it.

Eric,

Can you edit to reflect the new post. What a hassle to update

Just in case anyone is wondering, I am hoping we get a bunch more announcements at CES in January. If we do I will update this thread.

What about NHT Controller ! I thought it supported LPCM over HDMI!

Its a HDMI 1.1 device that supports 2ch PCM only. Per the manual:

Quote:
Note: The Controller's HDMI inputs and output support standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, and Dolby Digital, DTS and 2 channel PCM digital audio formats on a single cable.
