See notes on WWD on page 1.
There are certain time periods for the various pauses. I don't know of anyone who's timed the REC pause and my tests have been only in the 20-min. to 1-hour range for various pause functions.
I have to doubt that the machine would leave a REC paused for 24 hours, but the recorder can only record 11:59:59 total in one title, so it keeps track of actual rec time. Not sure if that plays a part.
I don't have a clue as to exactly how long it might maintain a pause in REC mode. Maybe someone else has timed it?
Good to know that you can actually keep a REC paused for so long!
There are some op. characteristics that *suggest* it's OK to maintain a REC paused, like instant HDD recording, changing channels/inputs in REC Pause mode, etc., but I can't say with any certainty that it really is OK.
I think you're in the place I was years ago when I stress-tested the bejeebers out of my machines and they came thru with flying colors. I believe we can say your long REC pause experience is one of the ultimate stress tests to date!?
Well, it only has one tuner so it can only record one channel, but while you're recording that channel, the raw antenna signal is going thru the coax circuit slightly amplified so your TV can tune a different channel and you can watch that. Or you could also watch the show that's recording (Chase Play), or an already recorded title on the HDD, or a DVD.
Anything internal (menus, channels, recorded titles, etc.) all go thru a line output to your TV, separate from the coax passthru.
See page 1 for an index of info and help files.
Yes, just set the Video > TV Aspect to 16:9 Wide. HDMI not necessary.
If you also turn on Progressive Scan, be aware that will prevent any output from the Composite or S-Video outputs. PS is not needed for HDMI, so that is an option just in case you need the other outputs.
You also have to have your TV set for Wide or some other name for WS. *Only* digital channels will carry WS programs (generally speaking).
Here's a UPS help file with some links that might help.
I got my minimal one at my local Walmart, ~$45.
