Those 19 513 refurbs at amazon sure were snapped up quick. I started to pick one up. I'm on the fence. My old EH85 crapped out. I still have a EZ28 in working order. At first I was just going to let them both die and forget about it. Then I got to thinking, I still like to record the occasional TCM movie. A lot of stuff on there that is hard to find on even DVD. I started to order the refurb, but thought I'd wait it out for the new 533 or 535. Editing is nice to be able to do. Then there is the EH59/69? Decisions, I can't decide.

Maybe the better approach is "They record internally. The machine itself stores the recording, so you don't have to worry about tapes. You can even move the recording to a DVD if you want."

"Whupass" can also be spelled "Whoopass" or "whoop ass", meaning "whipping of the buttocks".

It means a severe beating of any kind that will hurt a great deal.

Sometimes it's only a threat, and the "whipping" may be only figurative, not literal.

A "can of whoopass" means the punishment has been stored up and now will explode. The "can" is also figurative.

Since they'll all be thoroughly whupped, 55-gallons worth, I don't see why not... they won't be in any condition to stop me! biggrin.gif

wajo,
Have you (or anyone else here) asked 234/Funai if the Firmware they are working on for the Magnavox MDR537H (that allows for a 1TB hard drive to be used) will be posted (at some point in the future) AND used to upgrade the Magnavox MDR513H and/or MDR515H so that these "older" models can utilize a 1TB hard drive?

I think it's too early for that, but a good subject to bring up later. The 1TB FW will be OEM and they've never posted OEM FW before, only user updates. We also need to find out if the 1TB is a hard limit now and whether the new 533 and 535, and older 2160A/513/515, will be upgradeable to 1TB (or larger). All questions for later, after we see some actual units IMO.

727.01
Version 02C (for FREEZE solution) is added to 727.

The 515's firmware has been updated too... BUT...

The 515 firmware zip seems to contain the same firmware as the 2160A/513 zips, not the 515's firmware, so do not install it until FUNAI corrects the download.

Maybe 234 can get FUNAI to make the switch...?

Did anyone here get any strange private messages thru the board system lately?

I got a "new" message that contained the text of a message I apparently sent to someone FOUR YEARS AGO.

This strikes me as a bit odd.

It was apparently part of a testy exchange between me and another forum member...

A forum member whose membership shows NO recent activity in the forums. At all.

I don't think HE sent it to me.

Anyone else get any odd messages?
I did a few days ago, but deleted it without paying close attention.

It was the same system that told me I had 41(!) new posts to read in this group and steered me to the wrong page.

With NO disrespect to the folks who run this place (and I know it's hard work) when will this ever work as well as it did before? confused.gif
post #21074 of 23783
No question the old system was faster - more responsive at least and IMO easier to use. I'm guessing the change was necessitated on the server end. In the past it was not unusual for the old board to timeout or appear to be down. That hasn't happened with the new system. So while I cringe at how slow it loads and how long it takes to get from one page to another, I try to remember that AFAIK the new system has delivered 100% uptime.

Thank you, plさん

I could guess that type of item whoopass is.

About 50% of Japanese does not like Natto.
My mother likes it but father and sister hate it.
I am in mother side..

Because new recorders contains new hardware, I do not think new FW can be used on previous model.

By the way, what does it mean;
'The 1TB FW will be OEM and they've never posted OEM FW before' ??

Original Equipment Manufacturer???
No, we develop most of FW at our office in Osaka, except;
1) IC/LSI control part
2) Feature part such as codec.
3) Other small part

And we own the copyright.
If I am misunderstanding, forgive me...

Original in this case. A genuinely new model of anything will have an original FW version not used in a previous product. Online only gets versions that are subsequent updates to previous, including original, versions. Normally, no product's original FW version is among the those available online, since those came installed in the product already.

New firmware and tuner. Just forget HD inputs or even HD recording (Yes, I know those still are DVD recorders).

Thank you mmazda for explanation.

Note on my note above, or a Note-Note:

The FW files and instructions I posted there are from my personal collection of downloaded Funai FW files and have not been tested by any user here.

First actual user please report results.

P.S. On plane to Osaka, I checked in here and saw that 234 threatened to send me back with Natto instead of new units, but I met Geisha on plane who gave me a Nattomizer that turns Natto into caviar, so I'll take all the Natto he can give me!

Be careful what you ask for. Natto is fermented with bacillus subtilis, a gram-positive bacterium commonly found in soil and the human gut.

As they say, an acquired taste. I'd recommend starting off with something a little milder, like say Hello Kitty sushi...
249

or if your palate is feeling adventurous for something a bit more robust, go ahead and open up a can of Hello Kitty pasta...

No, we are talking about the deep relationship between MDR513H, 515H and Natto.

Whoopass should not be in this group but I could not find amendment of our web page, yet...
It sounds I need to receive wajo's souvenior.

I let rush our web master to amend immediately.
US customer, we are sorry for your trouble.

Wow, I have never seen such Sushi.
But we have Natto-maki (Roll sushi inside Natto) in Japan.
It is one of consevative Sushi.

I noticed Magnavox has a new website design. I checked the DVD recorder page. They no longer list the 513 on the page, but continue to list the 515 there. When I hit the 'where to buy' button, I get a 'coming soon' message. Interesting.

I know it's a holiday week, so I put a skip check mark to a (weekly) program from last night. I just looked and the check mark is still there. When does it get cleared? This is a MDH515H with 727V firmware.

I think other people have reported that issue on the 727V firmware. Haven't tried it myself.

I'll give it another chance this week. I also have the title scheduled on another box. I remember the earlier reports but no resolution. It's hard to duplicate when the event is so infrequent. It's not the end of the world.
