Klipsch Quintet III w/my Receiver

I just bought a set of the Klipsch Quintet III speakers to replace my old blown speakers that came with my Yamaha HTR-5540 receiver. I noticed afterwards tthat the Yamaha outputs 75w per channel, and Klipsch says the satellite speakers are rated for 50w. I haven't hooked up the speakers yet, do the wattage ratings have to be an exact match, or should I be fine with this setup? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Nope, they don't have to be an exact match. The Klipsch's can handle 50 watt continuously, and more than that in short bursts. I wouldn't worry about it. They'll be ok. Very rarely will they even be fed 50 watts. Only during very loud listening levels or short impactful bursts of home theater will they be given 50 watts or more. If you play things REALLY loud and can hear clipping and distortion, I'd tone it down a little bit. As long as you don't hear audible distortion and clipping, you're fine.

Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. I appreciate the reply. I just hooked them up, and they sound so much better than what was replaced. I need to put in a good HD-DVD and judge them through a better source.

I hope you just purchased them at Best Buy, they have a sweet deal right now.

Yes, I did get them at Best Buy. That is exactly why... =)

I also bought the same speaker package, (at BB - sweet deal indeed) and looking to add a sub.

I am thinking about the Infinity PS-10. I can pick one up on ebay (brand new) for $169. Can anyone make any other recommendations for a similar price?

My receiver is a Yamaha HTR-6060. Will be mostly for movies, with occasional gaming/music.

Thoughts and advice is much appreciated!

Sorry, to HJ, but I'm trying to decide b/w the Klipsch Quintet III with a Polk 404 (or recommended sub.) or the Onkyo SKS HT 240. I wasn't sure about matching the Quintet with the Klipsch 10" or 12".

Looking to get Onkyo 705.

Again, sorry to HJ.

You can get the Infinity PS-10 from Vanns.com for $179 shipped. And they're authorized. The Polk on ebay will cost you another $54 for shipping.

Actually I am from Canada and bought the Klipsch speakers while on a trip in the US. So I wouldn't be able to order from Vanns (only ship to the states). Thanks for the heads up though.

Any other recommended subs?

what was the deal? they are currently priced at $499 at my local BB..

The Black Friday deal I got at BB on the Quintet III's was $300 compared to the normal $500........killer deal.

For Sheryl (sorry if not spelled correctly),

I believe I read that the Klipsch 10 is recommended by Klipsch to go with the III's........can't remember if it was in the III's literature, their web site or some other place.

I hear the same thing, to go with the Klipsch 10" to get the best match. BB is also running a sale on them, both on the 10" and the 12".

i run a lot more wattage then 50watts through my qIII's and they handle it just fine.

Thanks for the info you guys have provided here. I picked up the Quintet III's at Best Buy during the sale as well. I already have a pair of F3's and the 12" sub so I just got these to give me 7.1 surround. I also have a RX-V1600 so I am glad to hear it can handle a little extra power. I just hope this isn't all too much overkill. My bedroom is only 10x12
