Hey gang,

Since their introduction to the music world six years ago, singer-songwriter Chris Daughtry and the eponymous rock outfit Daughtry have already made an indelible mark on music history. The band’s self-titled debut album has the honor of being the fastest selling rock debut in SoundScan history, they can point to four Grammy Award nominations, and they’ve scored four number one hits. Now, on July 10th, Daughtry makes their long-awaited debut in Rock Band!

“Daughtry Pack 01” opens with “It’s Not Over,” the first single from the band’s 2006 debut record, Daughtry. “No Surprise,” from 2009’s follow-up album, Leave This Town, is also included in the pack, with an optional Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrade also available. Finally, from 2011’s Break the Spell, the hard-edged “Crawling Back to You” closes out this rocking pack of hits!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (July 10th, 2012):

Here are the Rock Band Network songs that hit Xbox 360 on Thursday, 7/5/2012:

an Unkindness – “Words Cannot Express” (80 MSP)

Metal

All Shall Perish – “Rebirth” (160 MSP)

Eurobeat Brony – “Discord (The Living Tombstone Remix” (80 MSP)

Prog

The Daughtry Pack is surprisingly good sounding. They've progressively been losing their country accent biggrin.gif.
I was surprised at the lack of country sound and the fact that I knew one of the song from Top 40 radio, but still, bleah on drums.
Will have to see charts first. Love Shack seems a bit simple.

For me, "Love Shack" is a no-brainer, and it's the pro g/b song. I doubt that I'll buy the Staind song--too metallic. The Young the Giant tune is interesting--I'll watch the play through the decide.
I finally got a real drum set and I'm using Rock Band charts to learn how to play it. Here's my first real vid of Jimi Hendrix's All Along the Watchtower. This is literally the second time I ever sat down in front of a real drum kit.

Pretty cool, Tom! An even louder way to play drums in Rock Band. biggrin.gif

Rock Band Blitz release date announced as August 29th. I guess XBLA titles come out on Wedensdays versus DLC Tuesdays.

They also revealed 4 of the last 10 songs, and the kick-arse price of $15.
Yeah--it comes out for the PS3 on the 28th, kind of a switch, since they get they're DLC later than us. The full announcement can be seen here.

The list of known songs now include:

• Avenged Sevenfold – “So Far Away”
• Fun. ft. Janelle Monáe – “We Are Young”
• Kool & The Gang – “Jungle Boogie”
• My Chemical Romance – “Sing”
• The All-American Rejects – “Kids in the Street”
• Barenaked Ladies – “One Week”
• Blink-182’ – “Always”
• Collective Soul – “Shine”
• Elton John – “I’m Still Standing”
• Fall Out Boy – “A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More ‘Touch Me’”
• Foster the People – “Pumped Up Kicks”
• Great White – “Once Bitten Twice Shy”
• Iron Maiden – “The Wicker Man”
• Living Colour – “Cult of Personality”
• P!nk – “Raise Your Glass”
• Quiet Riot’ – “Metal Health (Bang Your Head)”
• Rick Springfield – “Jessie’s Girl.
• Shinedown – “Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom)”
• Tears for Fears – “Shout”

They've stated that a few more will be added and announced before launch. BTW, "last 10 songs"? Has HMX said anywhere that there will be 25? All I've ever heard was "more than 20"; it could be only two more songs and qualify. In any case as a song pack it's not more than 71 cents per song. Of course, I'm not interested in all of them but even if I only like half its worth the price of admission even if I hate the game biggrin.gif. So far, I know and like 9 of them and will no doubt will enjoy some of the others when I hear them.

EDIT: I just listened to those I didn't know and there are two more radio hits that I know and like but never knew the name and artists and probably another four that are inoffensive and interesting enough that I'd play them.

I believe it's been worded as "20 (or more than 20) songs new to the Rockband franchise". I'm pretty sure Spoonman and at least one other song that didn't make the export from RB1 or RB2 are missing from your song list.

Spoonman and Give It Away are rumored, not confirmed.

The leaked list is most likely legit, though: http://www.thegamingvault.com/2012/07/rock-band-blitzfull-tracklist-rumored/

The original announcement said, "over 20 tracks new to the Rock Band franchise". Since then the PRs have said, "more than 20 songs from music’s biggest artists".

I hope that list is true--I'd love to see "Stronger" and "Moves Like Jagger". Don't know the Foo Fighters or Queen songs; I'll have to listen to them.

They probably negotiated the rights to re-release "Spoonman" and "Give It Away" when they got "Black Hole Sun" and "Dani California", but they couldn't give us the former two back in the same way since they weren't placed in the RB2 export pack (BHS and DC were already ripped to HDD by the RB1 export; they just had to patch the game to allow them to be played). If they put them in Blitz I'm sure that there'll be grousing by those who feel that they should get them back without having to pay for anything.

Yep--it'll probably download as two files, the program and a track pack. If you like 8 or more of the songs its a bargain just for the new music.

I like "These Days" ("Death on Two Legs", not so much, but I'd probably play it). If that list is true, that makes 13 songs in the pack that I would have paid full price for if they'd been offered as DLC:

• Maroon 5 – “Moves Like Jagger (featuring Christina Aguilera)”
• Kelly Clarkson – “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”
• Foo Fighters – “These Days”
• Kool & The Gang – “Jungle Boogie”
• The All-American Rejects – “Kids in the Street”
• Barenaked Ladies – “One Week”
• Collective Soul – “Shine”
• Elton John – “I’m Still Standing”
• Foster the People – “Pumped Up Kicks”
• Living Colour – “Cult of Personality”
• P!nk – “Raise Your Glass”
• Rick Springfield – “Jessie’s Girl.
• Tears for Fears – “Shout”

It's possible that I'd have purchased two or three more of the others; I can't remember what they all sound like. Still, it's a huge value even if I hate the game biggrin.gif.

There's been a discussion in the RB forums as to whether they will or can introduce pro g/b upgrades to these songs. The difficulty is that the store needs an entry for a song in order to sell a pro g/b upgrade for that song. Since on-disc and in-pack songs don't appear in the store pro g/b upgrades haven't been offered for them in the past. At least 5 on-disc songs (the three Bon Jovi songs from RB1, RB2 and Lego and "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions" from Lego) have all been offered as "RB3 Versions" with keys and pro keys, harmonies and pro guitar and bass charts added. They could do something similar with a few of these (except that they'd already have keys, pro keys and harmonies where appropriate).

If they do offer any pro g/b charts, however they offer them, I'd expect them to wait 1-3 months to force all the people who just have to have those few pro-g/b-upgrade-worthy songs but are otherwise uninterested in the game to pay the $15 to get the songs.

Death of the Cool - Can't Let Go is out on the RBN. That is one of the menu songs from Rock Band 3. Also, the timing on this one is strange because it marks the return of two Rock Band 1 artists (that haven't been seen since) in one week! The vocalist of this band is also the voice of the Rock Band 3 tutorials!

That's "Everything I Hate About Myself"; "Can't Let Go" was their song in RB1.

DotC are one of the bands of HMX employees (I've heard that one of the job requirements to work there is the ability to play a musical instrument but that has to have changed since Dance Central--I can't imagine that they required their choreographers to be musicians).

They said that some of the main menu songs were going to be released to the game cool.gif.

DLC Week of 8/7 - Singles from Cutting Crew, Whitesnake and Hoobastank!

Hey gang,

August 7th has a triple-threat of popular singles from popular ‘80s pop group Cutting Crew, alternative metal band Hoobastank, and influential British rockers Whitesnake!

Cutting Crew’s power ballad “(I Just) Died in Your Arms” originally appeared on the band’s 1986 record, Broadcast, and not only reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, but was a hit worldwide. “Crawling in the Dark,” Hoobastank’s breakthrough single from their major-label self-titled studio debut, will also be available. Finally, Whitesnake’s popular ‘80s single, the blues-inspired hard rocker, “Still of the Night,” wraps up this week’s exciting additions to the Rock Band Music Store!

DLC Week of 8/14 - 2 Tracks From Foreigner and a Nightwish Single!

Hey gang,

The library of tracks from classic rock group Foreigner grows on August 14th, when two of the band’s biggest hits come to the Rock Band Music Store! First is the popular track “I Want To Know What Love Is,” from 1984’s Agent Provocateur, which reached number one on charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom in the 80s! Another popular Foreigner power ballad, “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” will also be available. Off of the band’s fourth studio record, 1981’s 4, it’s one of Foreigners most well-known tracks, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100!

Finish symphonic metal group Nightwish has consistently placed among the top 10 artists in the Community Wishlist in the Rock Band Dashboard application, available now on Facebook. Harmonix is excited to have the opportunity to listen to its community, and bring this highly requested artist to Rock Band for the first time! Nightwish makes their debut in Rock Band with “Amaranth,” the second single from 2007’s Dark Passion Play, along with optional support for Pro Guitar and Pro Bass!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (August 14th, 2012):

Yeah--most of us suspected that the leak was credible--probably some disgruntled current or former HMX employee. There are at least a dozen that I'd have paid full price for and no doubt some of the ones I don't know are thing that I'll enjoy. I can hardly wait biggrin.gif.

HMX reveals (here) that "Spoonman" and "Give It Away" will be "RB3 Versions" updated with harmonies and keys where applicable (keys in "Give It Away" but not "Spoonman", etc). At least we're not getting the same old song back like "Dani California" and "Black Hole Sun" but we got those back for free and you have to pay to get "Spoonman" and "Give It Away" for play in RB3.
