My 68 year old mother knows all the acts you don't know! Besides I wasn't saying it pejoratively.

No worries--I wasn't offended smile.gif. I'm single and childless--lots of middle-aged people stay current by hearing what their kids listen to. I also used to listen to a lot more radio than I do now, which kept me a bit more up to date on bands.

Easy update on Sublime: ADJ... Another Dead Junkie

That's pretty harsh.

Their original now-dead singer was great with an awesome sense of "off timing" to his lyrics. I don't like the new stuff with Rome that much.

My age doesn't stop me from buying songs, just being aware of the existence of some of the bands and/or their work. Playing this game has introduced me to a ton of music that I'd never heard, but enjoyed and purchased to play in the game.

The video clip (Click to show)

I am a major DMB fan. I have not been this stoked for a DLC release...ever. It eclipses even the Billy Joel, Queen and Jimi Hendrix packs, all of which I was hugely excited about.

Matthews was one of those anti-rhythm-gaming stalwarts (like Clapton and Prince) who don't like the idea of kids spending so much time perfecting their ability to play toy instruments when they could channel that energy into playing music for real. Both he and Clapton finally allowed their music to be put into the horrible Power Gig; perhaps there was some exclusivity agreement preventing it from coming to RB sooner. If so, maybe we'll get some Clapton soon--that also would be mega-cool.

Opinion of this DLC has been very polarized in the RB forums. Lots of people profess to hate DMB (underlining how much they dislike Matthew's voice) and then there are others who, like me, love the band. Relatively few are indifferent.

There are some things people "love to hate" feel compelled to go on and on about their dislike of (*cough*Nickelback*cough* smile.gif). I can't remember a single contemporary metal song that I could stand to listen to for 10 seconds and you don't hear me going about it rolleyes.gif.

I am on board with the two old songs but will have to see more of the new song.

The Chicago songs were amazing, by the way, and the Sublime songs were pretty good too.

The music for the new song is slow and simple, though the drum part is jazzy and spastic, with little trills thrown in at unpredictable points. The guitar part looks like it could be boring; the core of the tune is a persistent repeated chord that doesn't change often. Actually, looking at the chart in the video clip it looks interesting enough, though not challenging. Maybe the real persistent repeated chord that I hear is coming from a piano.

There's a video preview for the Loggins songs in their blog piece on it, here.

I'm in for the Kenny Loggins songs; I own GDRB but I'll get pro g/b upgrades, if they are legacy upgrades, which I expect them to be. I may skip the one for "American Idiot"--not one of my favorite GD songs.

The Preview Video (Click to show)

The first three songs were radio hits that I've heard a million times; I don't know the NIN song but I like it; never heard of Crossfade (there you go, Tom rolleyes.gif) but I like the song. I've heard of Dragonforce (I remember the much vaunted release of the practically impossible to play "Through the Fire and Flames" pro chart) but don't care for that kind of fantasy metal (or much of any other kind of metal, FTM biggrin.gif). I'll buy the other five and their two pro charts.

That is about all the game is worth. I thought it was a tremendous letdown, it felt more like work rather than fun. OTOH 600 is one heck of a deal for all those songs!
1200 is a hell of a deal for all of those songs, even if you don't like the game. The game is just a delivery vehicle that I happened to have a bit of fun with but it didn't really have legs for me. Even if it hadn't exported, it was still priced properly so this is a hell of a deal.
