I'm in for "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" (even though the chart looks boring as hell); "I'm Still Standing" is in Blitz and I was never a fan of "The Bitch is Back" (one of those songs by an artist I like whose popularity I'll never understand, like "Death on Two Legs").

I can't remember the last week without a pro g/b upgrade.

It appears that the Rock Band 3 on demand game is part of the deal of the week or day or some such nonsense because it's showing up as $9.99 for gold members. I paid $19.99 for the privilege of never swapping in my Rock Band 3 disc so this seems like a great deal.
I barely play any of the rhythm games any more. The last time to get serious time was DJ Hero 2.

I haven't touched any of the Rock Band or Guitar Hero games in some time. But Rock Band 3 for $10.... that's seriously getting me to consider dusting off the plastic... but it'd probably end up being an impulse buy that doesn't get play.

someone push me over the edge. and no, the pro mode probably won't do it for me.

Don't ask me, I'm closing in on 2,000 songs/1,000 pro drum gold stars. I'm not exactly impartial. biggrin.gif

"Yuck" is what I say to the xmas DLC.
Which is a My Chemical Romance 3-pack containing "Teenagers", "Helena" and "Sing", all with keys and a pro g/b upgrade for "Teenagers". I've certainly heard of them but I'm particularly familiar with their work. I'm not much impressed with "Sing", which those of us who bought Blitz already have.

It is pretty disappointing; I expected them to present us with some sort of "gift" on Christmas morning, something that the majority of players would be excited about. Oh well.
This week's DLC (out on Sunday) is a set of four singles:

  • “Party Hard” – Andrew W.K. O
  • “We Are Young” – Fun. ft. Janelle Monáe O
  • “Tonight Tonight” – Hot Chelle Rae O
  • “Raise Your Glass” – P!nk O

"We Are Young" and "Raise Your Glass" are featured in Blitz, so those of us who bought that already have them. I don't personally care for either of the others.

They've stated that they'll bring all of the Blitz songs out as singles for Xbox and PS3 players who didn't want the game and Wii player who weren't offered the game. I wouldn't mind that if they'd continue to release at least 3 new songs with at least one pro g/b upgrade, but that's not what's happening frown.gif. I suppose that we should be grateful to continue to get any new DLC for a not-particularly-popular 2 y/o game, even if it's slowed down to a trickle.

DLC Week of 1/29 - Aerosmith 6 Pack! Plus 2 Pro Guitar Upgrades!
Hey gang,

Emerging as one of the biggest rock bands of 70s, Boston-based Aerosmith made their mark on music history with a bluesy, hard rock vibe that continues to influence the sounds of rock n’ roll today. On January 29th, Harmonix is proud to bring a collection of the band’s oldest and newest hits to the Rock Band Music Store as part of “Aerosmith’s Greatest Dimension Pack”!

“Aerosmith’s Greatest Dimension Pack” kicks off with classic tracks from the Boston bad boys, including two tracks that originally appeared on the group’s sophomore album, 1975’s Toys in the Attic – “Walk This Way” and “Sweet Emotion.” “Back in the Saddle,” which originally appeared on 1976’s Rocks, and a live version of the emotional influential ballad “Dream On” will also be included in the pack!

Completing this incredible collection will be two new Aerosmith tracks, “Legendary Child” and “Lover Alot,” both from 2012’s Music From Another Dimension!, available now.

Tracks can be purchased individually, as well as part of “Aerosmith’s Greatest Dimension Pack,” and Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades will be available for both “Sweet Emotion” and “Dream On (Live)”!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation®3 system (January 29th, 2013):

• Aerosmith – “Walk This Way”

• Aerosmith – “Sweet Emotion” X

• Aerosmith – “Back in the Saddle”

• Aerosmith – “Dream On (Live)” X O

• Aerosmith – “Legendary Child”

• Aerosmith – “Lover Alot”

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system January 30th)

Price:

$9.99, £8.89 UK, €10.99 EU (800 Microsoft Points™, 1000 Wii Points™) for the “Aerosmith’s Greatest Dimension Pack”

$1.99 USD, £1.19 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points ™, 200 Wii Points™) per song

$0.99 USD (80 Microsoft Points™, 100 Wii Points™), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade

Wow! I'm down for the first three and maybe the live version of Dream On, but I've gotta hear that one first. I've wanted Sweet Emotion forever.

This is a huge get. Of course, despite the fact that I love Aerosmith, most of their songs sound like they'd be boring as hell on drums. Hoping for a few gems.

Cue Mike to say "Who?" biggrin.gif

After several weeks of them only posting songs that were already available via Rock Band Blitz, I was starting to worry that we were nearing the end of RB DLC... hopefully this is a precursor to other previous "Guitar Hero only" artists making the switch back to RB.

How many exclusives are/were there? Aerosmith, Van Halen, and Metallica?

I'd be down with an RB3 version of Enter Sandman since I miss that song the most of any, with pro guitar upgrade of course. smile.gif A 6-pack "Best of Metallica" would be awesome.

This is good news. I was getting afraid as well that they were nearing the end.

Those are the ones that got published. Other groups might have some contractual obligation to EA still in effect but never had a stand alone game made, . i.e possibly Black Sabbath.

This doesn't have any impact on nearing the end or not. It could end with a trickle of minor stuff or go out in a blaze of glorious awesome sauce. No one really knows. Five years of weekly releases is pretty amazing, and it does have to end sometime.

That's untrue--they've only had one week with only songs already available in RBB (last week) and even then they released never before available pro g/b upgrades to a couple of them. We've been told that every other week will have only RBB releases until unreleased-as-singles-RBB songs run out and there are three more pro g/b upgrades for RBB songs coming.

So how is that Aerosmith DLC? Is the live version of Dream On okay?

DLC Week of 2/12 - Extreme, Nazareth, Peter Cetera, REO Speedwagon & Soft Cell!
Hey gang,

For all of the lovers out there this Valentine’s Day, Harmonix presents a collection of music’s greatest rock and pop ballads, coming to the Rock Band Music Store on February 12th!

Extreme’s acoustic classic, “More Than Words” – off 1990’s Extreme II: Pornograffiti – was a departure from the band’s funky rock sound, but managed to reach number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100! As a bonus, every “More Than Words” download will include a Pro Guitar upgrade!

Originally recorded by The Everly Brothers in the 1960s, Nazareth made “Love Hurts” a huge hit in the late ‘70s, making it an international hit for the Scottish rockers. This 2009 re-recording of the track by the band brings all the feeling and energy of the original to Rock Band!

Peter Cetera’s Billboard Hot 100 number one hit “Glory of Love,” from 1986’s Solitude/Solitaire, also earned the singer/songwriter a nomination for an Academy Award for “Best Original Song” as it appeared in the film The Karate Kid, Part II!

Among REO Speedwagon’s thirteen Top 40 hits, the classic rock power ballad “Keep On Loving You” may be their most memorable, peaking at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100!

Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love,” from the English pop duo’s 1981 debut, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, will also be available on the Rock Band Music Store on February 12th!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation®3 system (February 12th, 2013):

• Extreme – “More Than Words” X

• Nazareth – “Love Hurts”

• Peter Cetera – “Glory of Love” O

• REO Speedwagon – “Keep On Loving You” O

• Soft Cell – “Tainted Love” O

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system February 13th)

Price:

$1.99 USD, £1.19 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points ™, 200 Wii Points™) per song

I don't think they have a guitarist or bassist. My money is on a drum-machine drum track, synth bass track, keys, vocals, and no guitar track.

The very-slow-to-load preview video in the blog shows a guitar chart, though I'm not sure that it's mapped to a guitar.

It sounded like keys on guitar, although the keyboard was playing long sustains.
There may be multiple keyboards in use in the song.
Considering it's two guys and a drum machine, I'd say that's pretty likely. smile.gif

It'd be nice to get a pack with "Sex Dwarf" and "Memorabilia" to go along with "Tainted Love".

It was one of the hints in the weekly "guess the DLC thread". Of Blitz songs, they've had pro upgrades now for "Spoonman", "Cult of Personality", "The Wicker Man" and "Jessie's Girl". Only "Jungle Boogie" and "Give It Away" remain (of Blitz songs marked as having pro upgrades in rockband.com Song Finder); I wouldn't buy either--didn't buy "The Wicker Man" upgrade--so I don't care.

It's been a good, long run.

As you may have seen in our recent announcement regarding the release of Rock Band Blitz tracks as singles, Rock Band DLC production has gradually slowed over the past five years. We have managed to maintain a consistent release schedule for a staggering 275 consecutive weeks, releasing over 4,000 songs for the Rock Band Platform, but in recent months we’ve scaled production down as we’ve transitioned resources onto other projects. With several new titles in development and developers needed to usher these new games along, April 2nd will be the last weekly DLC release for Rock Band.

While there is no content currently scheduled beyond April 2nd, we still have DLC releases lined up for the next few weeks, including the remaining tracks from Rock Band Blitz, several Pro Guitar upgrades, and a handful of artists who have not yet appeared in Rock Band. We’re incredibly proud of the DLC milestones we’ve set, especially producing the largest music library of any game available, and we wouldn’t have been able to release as much outstanding content without the support of our amazing community. As thanks to the community, we’re going to continue the ongoing DLC sale of 50% off over 1,100 songs so fans can continue to build their personal libraries from our back catalog.

We hope that you’ll all agree that this has been a tremendous run, and you should know it’s a ride that we at Harmonix have been thrilled to be a part of. We’re going to continue to support the forums and RockBand.com and hope to still see you rocking out online, in photos of Rock Band parties shared on Twitter and Facebook, or here on the forums. Whether you waited in line for a midnight release of Rock Band over 5 years ago, or you just joined the party with Rock Band Blitz… whether you’ve downloaded every single song we’ve ever released, or you’ve just played on disc songs until your neighbors moved away… whether you’re a metal shredder, or a bubblegum pop singer… thank you for being a part of our band.

I really don't enjoy Rocksmith much, and I've tried to.

We knew this day was coming, but I sure was hoping it would be further down the road. The good news is we can keep playing this awesome game as long we have a working Xbox360. And as for new music, well, I only have a little less than 1k of 4k+ available songs.
