my ion kit that i bought at launch has recently started losing its connection to the xbox. in the middle of a song, it will say (paraphrasing) "lost connection with the controller". i can hit continue and things are fine, but i can count on this happening a few times a setlist now. when i put my hands over the drum heads, you can feel static electricity.

it's never done this before, my setup or how i'm playing has not changed, i'm on a hardwood floor.... what's up? anyone else have this issue?
I have the exact same issue. There seems to be a buildup of static electricity over the drum heads and when I put my hand on over them it disconnects the drum set. I was starting to think I was Raiden or something.

I'm suspecting that this is also causing my drums to occasionally do some random phantom hits on the green pad. It has happened a few times that during a song, in a section where there is absolutely no drumming, that I just randomly lose my streak because the kit decided to hit green. Quite annoying.

this simon says gameplay is getting so monotonous... trading in rb2 & dj hero for modern warfare 2 + map pack.

It is April 1, isn't it?

This happens to me too a lot.

Maybe you can spray some static guard on the pads to help? Might be a good project to try if static is really the culprit.

Don't use the spray...it can leave a residue (and has CFCs).

Just rub dryer sheets on the drum heads in between songs. No more static AND a fresh, clean scent for your kit.
I had this problem (to some extent still do) every time the humidity would drop very low. I would have to "wipe off" the static in between every song in order to keep from having the 'disconnect' occur and break streaks. Very annoying indeed. Basically, it seems the Ion's, when you are going to town on them, build up the static, so as we progress in difficulty, the issue gets more and more prevalent.

I use cymbals, which in my case seem to be immune to this phenomena, so my problem child was the snare. This issue completely disappeared once I bought the Roland mesh head. My wife uses the yellow tom instead of the hi-hat and she very rarely will have this pop up, but she is only on medium difficulty so it's not a very big issue for her. If there is a particular song that has a heavy tom section for a long period of time, I will still "wipe off" the static between songs just to make sure it won't cause any mis-hits.

I heard some people actually put dryer sheets inside the drums to help. EDIT AbrtRetryIgnore already filled you in on the dryer sheets.

I wonder if Valleys of Neptune isn't getting lost in the shuffle a bit. It took me a day to realise I didn't get it with the Axis album. Maybe they should have released it a week earlier and everyone would have freaked out and bought it.

That and the fact that the press release didn't really say it was excluded from the album purchase.

I listened to all of next week's songs and I will be buying 2-3 of them, but still, uh... who?

They could have at least thrown in some Stryper.

That Skillet song gets a lot radio play around here, and every time I hear it I think "this would be a good RockBand song."

This. Been looking forward to Anberlin for a long time and this song will definitely amp up the energy at Rock Band parties. Good stuff.

Even though I'm not religious nor a Stryper fan, "To Hell With The Devil" is a great album name considering their stand on things.

Thanks for the link. I ordered one and it should be here by the end of the week.

Question for all you ION drummers out there... do you have your ION's setup like a real drum-kit (snare between your legs), or like the original RB setup? Having the ION's setup like a real drum set seems "cooler" (and possibly more fun), but going with the default layout seems like it might be easier to play.

I can't stop adjusting these things and trying out new positions.
It depends on you. I've seen most IRL drummers with the snare between their legs but then again that's all they've known. I might slide it down when I get Ions so that for songs like the Dixie Chicks one I can have the snare closer for my right.
I tried to set my Ions up like a real life drum kit and I couldn't get adjusted to it. I tried for about a month too. I ended up with my blue and yellow pads higher when I returned to my original setup, so I'm happier now. I found that the default red snare is too small to learn this on when you've been used to another setup for two years. Maybe if I had started on real drums.

interesting, I only have stock RB1 drums right now(rock pedal with practice pad otherwise) and I keep the snare centered on my hips. I want to get the ION soon(RB3 drum changes announcement pending) and was figuring on teh red drum being the only major change in the pad set up for me.

Other people's bad habits may be more malleable than mine.
