making backup copies of sd dvds is probably a fairly simple matter to most of us here but for the proverbial j6ps and/or john q public-same guy, it may be as confusing as the whole hdm matter may be.
using a pc/mac or a standalone dvdr plus player, 'de-encryption' issues/devices, +/-r, rw, ram, variable bit rate, etc
, the list goes on ad nauseum....
i mention this because ive got a couple of neighbors who want to make their own backup copies but when i tell them whats involved they sort of back off (actually, way, way off!)(such as using cheap gear results in cheap looking copies, etc-but most have only 27" crts anyway, so it doesnt really matter).
never mind hd dvd/bd stuff, thats a whole 'nother (it may as well be alien)(as in space alien, not the 'illegal' types) ball game.
