(...is that the camera len's Barrel Distortion or is that shelf bending under the wieght of DVDs?
Interesting images. When you get down to the image of the Girl, you can see both the red (DLP) push (...even the whites of her eyes....) and darker image the 7130 presents. It may be rated at 900 ansi lumens, but I'm fairly certain it is not going to be determined to be as bright as the RS-1's actual 700 lumens.
In the smaller RS1 images of the Girl, I see what looks to be Gamma issues. Could be the reflected lumens are so great they are overdriving your camera's metering system. Step back and Zoom in to frame. Zooming always attenuates incoming light and therein compensates for a screen's light output overstepping the boundaries of the Camera's light gathering ability in a darkened setting.
BTW, why did you choose that particular PJ? Cost/performance ratio alone? I know it's a pretty Good DLP unit, but 720p .....???....well, hit that 225" monster with it and that'll prove something or another.
Say....whens the Big day (night?)

What you see on the left is the DLP crushing out background detail in favor of an artificially induced level of contrast. I cannot however deny that if I didn't know better, I'd want the image on the left on my wall before I'd want the one on the right. But I do know better....having some degree of knowledge about what i going on in those photos.
If I'm correct, the RS-1 is set up to shoot it's image onto 225" of screen, while the Planar has not been so adjusted. That screen CalBear is using is only 85" across, not 190"+. So the JVC is simply blasting that surface with lumens. Besides, when did you ever see a beautiful Asian woman with such a sun tan? Or who used such a brown hued Foundation? It just ain't happening!
