whole house stereo volume control switch confusion

I am looking for (3) volume control switches for my whole house sound system. The problem is that I have the 4 wire leads coming from the two speakers in each room, into the volume switch box location. Then only 2 wire leads heading from the volume switch location back to the receiver. I can't find any volume control switches configured this way. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Typically you would run a single 4 conductor speaker cable from the
equipment / amp to each volume control location, then from that volume control a 2 conductor cable to each of the speakers.

Are you saying there is only a single, 2 conductor wire from the equipment / amp to each volume control location ???

If this is the case, you can still make it work, but you will be getting a mono signal to all of your rooms.
