Has anybody recently checked the throughput of a usb2 hard drive? I'm getting tired of the price differences between usb2 enclosures and those that offer firewire - been looking at some enclosures today at the local Fry's and it's killling me that some of the usb2 enclosures go for between $19 and $29. The cheapest enclosure with firewire 400 and sata internal I found on owc's website sells for $89 (Mercury on-the-go 800/400&usb2).
In particular, I'd love to hear from some of the guys here who snatched a hitachi external 200gb (2.5"). I'd love to hear what throughput you get - just when copying a few big files from an internal drive to the external while watchting Activity Monitor's Disk Activity pane.

) from the internal to the external drive. It took 6 1/2 minutes to copy (1.0 GB/min). Transfers averaged about 17MB/s. It peaked a few times around 18.25 MB/sec.
