Simple ~$100 speaker setup?

Hi there! I just bought a Olevia 532h 32" LCD HDTV to put into my room. I've been reading reviews about it and heard that the built-in speakers aren't that great, so I'm thinking about getting a simple speaker setup for it.

I'm not really looking for anything spectacular or theater like experience since it is just in a bedroom, but definitely something decent. I'm not familiar with audio setups, so that's why I'm hoping some people here can give me some suggestions of systems around $100.

Thanks ahead to all those who answer.

Oh yea and btw, the Olevia HDTV has a line-in audio if that's needed information.

If you don't have a receiver or an amp you will need powered speakers.

If you do have a receiver then Athena 1.2's can be had for $100/pr.

Nope, don't have a receiver nor an amp. Is it really hard to find a system under $100?

Afraid so. Self-powered speakers under $100 would fall into the computer speaker catagory. Hardly better than the original tv speakers. There are nice computer speakers out there but they cost more than $100.

Actually, speaking about computer speakers, I just remembered I put away a 5.1 computer speaker system away just a month or two ago. It's from Logitech Z series I believe(not sure which one exaclty). I didn't need it anymore because I'm no longer using my desktop, but rather my laptop solely now. Is there any way to use that for my soon-to-arrive LCD?

Like I said, the LCD only has a Line-in input, and I know I used to con nect the computer speaker system to my desktop's sound card, which used those 4 or 5 separate inputs. Are they useful or useless in this case?

Connect the TV's audio out( R/L) to your speakers.
They are usually the red & white connectors!
You will have to turn off your Tv speakers somewhere in the menu.

Go to ebay and buy a used pair of Polk (older design - such as the 5jr) bookshelf speakers. All you will need is an integrated amp to power them. You can buy this used as well. I've always believed you can never go wrong with used amps or speakers.

Unless the TV has a variable level output (doubtful, but some do) you'll need to get up to change the volume on either the speakers (if using powered computer speakers) or amp (if using an amp and bookshelf speakers). Just something to keep in mind.
