HD-A30: No 1080p on Sony TVs?

I updated my HD-A30 with the latest firmware and 1080p worked on my Sharp Aquos but when I hooked up the player to my Sony XBR it would only output 1080i. Anyone know why this might be the case?

What is the model number of the XBR? Prior to the XBR2 and 2000 series, you could not input 1080p, only 1080i. Your output would be 1080p, though, which I am assuming is your displays native resolution. Thanks...Will

P.S. What you're seeing when you press 'display' on your Sony is the input resolution, not the output.

More than a few folks are complaining about output resolution selections being "limited" with new Tosh firmware in the various players. I'm assuming you could output 1080p previously, yes?

The ealier models of Sony tv's could only accept up to 1080i via component. To get 1080p you had to use HDMI.

The one thing I noticed on my Sony RPTV with 1080p/24 is with the latest firmware 2.7 my a20 and a2 have handshaking issues with HDMI now before on 2.5 it had no issues. However the latest firmware works flawlessly with both my Toshiba 1080p/24 LCD tvs. I doubt this is intentional but who knows.
