*PROBLEM* connecting xbox 360 to Sharp 46D64U

Here's my situation: I just bought a new Xbox Elite along with a new Sharp Aquos 46D64U. I tried to connect using the HDMI cable but the screen flickers then goes black. I can't even set a resolution. I tried turning noise reduction off but the picture still turns black.

THEN, I switched to component and it works just fine, I set it to 1080P on the Xbox and it looks great. However, I would rather use HDMI.

So, is there a setting on my TV that needs to be adjusted? Could it be the HDMI cable included with the Xbox? I will switch to the Monster HDMI if I know it works.

Can someone help???

does anything else connected through HDMI work on your tv? Maybe try some upconverting dvd player or hi Def player to see if its not the hdmi ports on your tv before concluding its the cable.

but checking the cable should be an easy fix, try borrowing one from friends/neighbors?

I am the only one I know who has HD components, and unfortunately an xbox 360 is the only one. So I can't test the cable or the component because I don't have others to borrow.

I believe it's a setting on my TV, but I'm not sure exactly what. I did turn noise reduction off but the problem is still occurring.

Anymore help?

Ok.. I also don't get sound when directly connecting my HDMI cable to the TV. Could it be a faulty Microsoft Xbox 360 HDMI cable or a setting not right on my TV??

A cable issue is highly unlikely, although not impossible. Definitely no reason to buy Monster cables even if it is the cable issue.

I would first check the port with another HDMI source, like a dvd player or something, and see if you experience the same thing. If they work fine, then check with another cable (just buy it form a returnable store). If still no, then it might be your xbox.

I doubt its any setting on tv since you dont get any sound or video, its a more drastic problem than just a fine tuning setting.

I don't have another HDMI component so I can't test the ports on the TV, but I highly doubt all 3 of them are faulty. I do get video, but it flickers then turns blank. The sound issue sounds like it'd be from the cable. The xbox HDMI port could be the issue, but it is brand new! I'm probably going to buy another HDMI cable from monoprice.com and see if that solves the problem.

I can check a friend's Xbox 360 to make sure it's not my port, then I'll buy a new cable and see if that solves the problem.

Got it fixed! Turning on the TV, then 360, then switching over to HDMI input worked great!
