I have lurked here for a while and would like a couple of ideas please.
I am picking up my newly purchased tv today its the lc46d64u sharp aquos. I would like to discuss my audio options for my room which is 9ft x 9ft. My last hometheater purchase was an onkyo htib so that is how far my knowledge extends. Now that I have gone 1080p I would like to compliment my tv and indulge in some better quality sound. I am willing to buy the receiver first and make due with some old speakers and upgrade around it In the future. My current devices are: the aquos, ps3, xbox 360 (will upgrade to the hdmi model), directv with hd-dvr, and possibly a htpc on the near future. With my last setup I ran everything through hdmi to the tv and then ran optical cables to the onkyo from all the devices so basically I got DD and DTS form all my gear.
my questions are the following.
With a room this size is it worth it to go 5.1 lossless?
can I achieve it with a reciever using optical cables or does it have to switch hdmi?
can you point me to a reciever that can handle my needs? And maybe some future speakers
will hanging a wall rug give me better acoustics and can you recommend other hints?
