I hope this isn't considered "talking to myself"....ie replying to myself, ha.
Anyway I'm still trying to find a main board for my 247FHD-T11. I'm not sure which board number was used when you say the one for the 242FHD worked. I did find one at Shopjimmy.com that goes into a 242 but if I recall they want about $250 for it ! A little steep even if it were the correct one since you can find the whole set for around $500 "refurbed".
I've gone thru every listing on Ebay and checked Discount Merchant (online) and nothing for a 42" there either. I've checked out every Google link several times as well and just dead ends.
I called about half dozen Micro Center stores from East to West with no help.
None of them seemed to care a lot and said either they don't sell TV parts or they don't "fix" TVs etc. Even the two locations in CA which might be closer to where some of this junk has their US origins know nothing.
The Mpls, MN store fellow tried to help and had me call back later when another worker would be there. Well the story here is that they send a faulty board to a location in CA and they repair it for them. Apparently it is exclusive to Micro Center... won't do this for anyone else so I was not given the name of the firm.
Well here I sit around a year after beginning my search with still no luck finding a reasonable solution, let alone a reasonably priced correct board.
I thought I had a solution when I discovered one fellow that can do the BGA soldering. I'm 99% sure the problem is the BGA soldering on the IC with the large aluminum heat sink. .... the chip itself may be bad by this time also.
I sent him the board plus others needed to operate together. That was 5 months ago !!! He kept telling me he was waiting for the chip form China or one excuse after the other... I was extremely patient (cuz I was also do desperate for a solution) but I finally gave up and asked him to send back the boards.
Anyone have anything new to offer?.... still would like that 42" board number that was used successfully to run this 47" unit.
Thanks all !
