The parents want a HT system, I've put together a couple possibilities within their budget (~$1,200). Speakers must be small so choices are limited. They are parents so they are far from critical, but I want them to have something nice. Room is approx 15'x20'x8'. TV and primary seating are on the 20' walls so the distance from mains to surrounds is 15'.
1) 4 x Mirage Nanosats w/ Nano CC + HSU STF-2
2) 4 x Mirage Nanosats w/ Nano CC + HSU STF-1 (If the STF-2 is overkill)
3) Orb Peoples Choice Package (comes with Orb 8"sub)
4) Same config as Peoples Choice but replacing the orb 8" sub w/ the 10" STF-2
I have no way to hear the orbs, but from all the reading on the boards, I'm guessing that they are at least equal to the nanosats in quality and volume? I thought the nanosats would be better for surround since they are omni's but the orbs have brackets that can aim them at the side of your head. Is it a good idea to substitute the 10" HSU over the 8" Orb sub? The 10" Orb sub would be too much $$$ and is why I thought the HSU would be a good replacement to get a 10" w/o breaking the bank. Any suggestions/experiences/opionions are welcome...
Then it's on to find a decent HDMI switching receiver for all this goodnes.
