Double sided tape for mask border, laminate screen

Does anyone know of a double sided tape that could attach on and off of a laminate surface? On on the other side of the tape i would attach a thin and long piece of styrofoam from Lowes, covered in black velveteen.

Lowes sells double-sided tape. It should be with the masking tape. However; once it's put on the laminate it would probably be a bugger to get off without ruining the Styrofoam.

Yep. I think most of the two sided tapes I have seen would stick way too good.

No one has tried this yet to the best of my knowledge. But and this is a big BUT I have had in m head for a while.

If you glued the laminate to a sheet of thin sheet steel. Masking frames could be slapped on and off that had magnets built into the backs. Actually the whole backing wouldn't have to be steel just the areas where you would have the magnets located for the pieces you would change out. Might be as small as a couple 4 square pieces of sheet steel glued into pockets routed into a sheet of MDF.

I'm not real into masking or I would have tried something like this but if anyone wants to run with the idea feel free to show us the way. And if someone has tried it jump in and show us what you did.

Great idea! But my laminte is already mounted to 1 inch pressboard. I'm gonna keep searching for double sided tape that woudnt ruin the laminate.

I've done a lot of stuff with command hooks, they are sort of double sided...and you can easily take them off. I'm about to do exactly this myself, although I was going to use wood, but I like the styrofoam idea since it would be even lighter. I'm going to use the ones that are like velcro, that way I can take the frame off and on until I get everything level.

Sounds very interesting, but what are command hooks? How do they work? Would you mind taking some pics of your finished product? I'm very interested to hear how it turns out!

I don't think you can, don't you pull the sticky part out when you take one down?
