This may be redundant info but, Schmartz.com is not shipping the PS3IR+PWR devices yet, even if you did get an email. The entire shipping and R&D departments (that's me, myself and I) are out with the flu. Sorry. I can't get much worse so I must be ready to get over it soon. For everyone that has an order in place, please be patient. I hope to get to them soon. But it may be late next week or even longer with the Holidays and being sick and all. Don't panic if I don't post for a few days! I'm really not up to it.

Over and out (really).

Has anyone used an RF extender with the IR emitter attached to the PS3IRX1?
Sorry, I hope you feel better soon. I wasn't mad anything, just impatient for my new toy. I completely understand. I'm just really impressed someone figured out how to do this.

Are these units equipped with the latest firmware, with "Home" button capability?

The last thing we heard is that the "normal" version (Home button code) would be ready to ship this or next week for new orders. Bear in mind that the code will be there, but the Home button will not be able to be used until Mike gets in Sony's list of developers, and thus assigned a Vendor ID.

The +PWR version is not shipping yet, I believe he is in the testing phase.

By normal version, you mean the "non +PWR" version?
What I am asking is: after any shipping delays because of Mike being sick, will both versions have the most updated firmware so my Universal remote can use the Home button function (after he is approved by Sony), or only one of the two versions?

Thanks again
Jeff

Yes, by "normal" I meant "non +PWR". And I am almost positive both versions will be shipping with the updated firmware. (Otherwise he would have a lot more support to give)

looking the mapping codes, can Subtitle function be programmed to a Universal Remote? 2 of the buttons i wanted most to be programmed to univ remote are the Audio and Subtitle functions, i'd settle for 1 out of 2 tho.

as of now, in order to use the power on/off function we have to enable remtoe start, does that mean we have to have a psp?

Heya...

In my own IR-to-BT thread, someone referred me to your thread.

I built a prototype IR-to-BT back in October using some scrap parts. Tackling the project was a fun challenge, and I can appreciate the work you put into your design.

If you don't mind me asking, I had a few questions of a more technical nature. I also had a suggestion.

1. What IR carrier frequency did you choose?

2. When I built my unit, I found that the URLD buttons were very sensitive. I ended up putting in a limiter that only pushed an URLD button once per continuous packet stream. How did you limit the repeat rate of the URLD buttons?

As for my suggestion... If Sony agrees to give you a vendor ID, please keep the cap sense pushing power button rig. I'd also suggest adding in a toggle flag (if it's not there already) that would allow a simulation of discrete power codes. (If D-ON is sent and the flag is 1, your device would do nothing.) You could have some syncing issues, but those could be avoided if the end user refrained from using the power button.

Anyways... Nice work! Hope you feel better.

This sounds like a fine product, but can someone tell my how it is better than the (nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=113) Nyko Blu-Wave solution for the Harmony 880? (Other than the power on/off capable model.) I've been using the Blu-Wave since I got my 880 without any real problems. I did have to manually map the buttons, but once that was done everything worked.

Please understand, I am not trying to hijack the thread or promote another product, I'm just trying to understand if I should "upgrade" to the PS3IR.

Hallo everyone,

Trying to understand. If i get PS3IRX1 and add a sony DVD code to my all 4 one controller, will i be able to use a subtitle button? What is home button?

I understand you were not feeling well. My sister bought this device for me for christmas. Are you shipping? Anyway I can send you a PM and get a status?

I too am curious of the advantages the PS3IRX1 has over the nyko, aside from the new power on version...

Advantages and disadvantages for all of the USB IR solutions are discussed at length here.

Doh. Maybe he got the shot... or maybe he can't get the shot ... or maybe it's none of our business.
Yes, but it's all about me and he needs to meet my needs so...get the shot.

Relatively useless information for you now! But maybe next year! Heck, I'll chip in for next years shot by buying a unit!

Mike, you feeling better yet?

If so what's the word on your progress as far as the home key goes? I'm ready to buy one, just waiting to hear from you that you have implemented the home key.

Why do people keep asking questions about the Home key when the status is explained with big bold letters in the second post of this thread?

Actually Mike has said that it would be possible if he got himself listed as a sony vendor. Granted he said that it was unlikely at best that he'd be able to be added, but to my knowledge he hasn't come out and said that it was impossible or he'd stopped trying. In fact he's said he'll add the home key functionality to the firmware so that if he is ever added to the vendor list all the units with it added would just start working.

Yes, I agree. If you read my post I never stated that he couldn't or wouldn't do it. I just was pointing out that Mike is keeping his main posts in the front of the thread updated on the status of such items to alleviate people asking the same questions many times.

Which was, actually, the main purpose to having this thread opened, to keep updates in the first posts.

Any update on when these might be shipping? I've been patiently checking my mailbox for the last 3 weeks.

Yes it works fine with the Harmony 890 package.

I understand that. But I saw that his post hasn't been updated since Dec 2, and I qouted a post of his from December 14 that said he would be changing to the new firmware with the home function enabled the next week (which would have been last week). Since he was ill, I figured he did not get around to it then, but I was wondering if he was feeling better, and if he has changed the firmware now.

So, just so i understand, before i buy a harmony...there is NOT a remote that controls the ps3 and say my dlp, hd-dvd, etc.? I have little knowledge of remotes, but i guess a person would need a rf,ir,bluetooth remote? If there is one, whats it called, who makes it, etc.
You have to have a "learning remote", i was fixing to drop a dime on the logitech 550. I understand that its not a learning remote? Just tell me whats the cheapest fix for a universal remote that will also control my ps3.

Thanks,
Steve
