Great sound and beautiful picture. (TWCNY)

There was a first hour here in the local NY market and now, a second hour just began and is national. Josh Grobin opened with a Christmas song—imagine that? (First hour had too many non Christmas songs.)

Holy Mackerel!!! They missed the money shot!!!

They had a close up of the button press and missed the dark tree go on.

Holy smoke. That’s nuts. First of all, they should light the tree at the beginning of the show and have it as a backdrop for the night. They try and make it a "Ball Dropping" thing, which it’s not.

Looks like widescreen SD, not HD/ Just not as crisp as what I've come to expect from broadcast HD. Also, there's no "HD" next to the NBC logo.

I don't remember seeing them use the "HD" bug when they do these live events that are letterboxed on the SD channel so not having "HD" in the bug doesn't particularly mean anything. If they are inserting the bug at the switcher during the live production then they would have to use the regular bug because it would be common to both the HD and the letterboxed SD picture.
