I am new to HT. I am 20 years old living in my fraternity house.
My current set-up
Logitech z 5500
Westinghouse LTV-27w7
20" Alum Imac
Xbox 360
The room is not really set up for an optimal speaker arragnement but it still sounds good. The z 5500 can reach some decent SPL even for a computer speaker system. In the begining of the semester the cops got called on my fraternity for noise. It was not the PA systerm we have in the basement it was because of my room. In the summer I plan on upgrading to either and Onkyo 505 or a Denon 1508 with a Definative ProCinema 600 speaker package. I want to get better sound quality, and don't want to get anything to loud because I will be moving into an appartment next year. I also want to get an HD-DVD player once I get some money.
