Haven't contacted Optoma again, and I won't unless it acts up like it did before I sent it back. I've got 90 days, and it's barely been 3 weeks.
I know that it's not uncommon to have some flicker with a new bulb. I'll let it burn in really well before I'll pass judgement on it.
Still very pleased with the projector and with Optoma's service.
I received my projector back from Optoma in about 10 days after mailing it in. The repair report is confusing to read, it appears they changed a photo sensor board and reassembled my keypad which now is loose and assembled sideways. The projector also arrived with black fingerprints all over the the glossy white finish. I was able to remove them by using Windex.
The bulb was not replaced and the RMA form noted there is "no bulb warranty". I re-read the Warranty included with the projector and cannot locate where it states the bulb has a 90 day warranty.
Turned the projector on and 1 minute into a movie the flicker was there.
It states on the repair form that they tested it for 4 hours. It appears they didn't actually view the image with their own eyes and possibly used equipment to test it???
I'm not certain I want to keep paying money to ship it back again, and possibly again. I'll wait a week to "cool off" and not be so upset before calling to complain.
I'm certainly not happy with my service experience with them this time.
It will be interesting to see what happens if something goes wrong before the full 1-year warranty is up but the new parts they installed are only good for another 3 months. It appears I have a machine with a shorter warranty now. Maybe I should have waited 9 months before sending it in? Something doesn't seem legitimate here.
