XA2 restarts disc when TV input is toggled??

So I just got my XA2 (2.7 FW) yesterday and it's connected to a Sony KDS-60A3000 via HDMI. It's a wonderful combination. I did notice one weird hangup though.

If I'm playing a movie on the XA2 and for whatever reason switch to a different input on the TV, maybe the Sat box (also HDMI) to check scores on a game, when I switch back to the XA2, a message appears saying that the movie will restart to accept the new resolution and goes right back to the menu for SD-DVD or the start of the movie for an HD-DVD?!?!?!

Is that normal? I can live with it but just wanted to mention it.

Mine did this when new, fw 1.0 or what ever the first one was. The 2.x fw versions solved this for me. Are you sure you are running 2.7?

Yes it's on 2.7, I popped in the update disc (burned the .iso) last night so I could do 1080p/24. I verified it was at 2.7 too.

I've had some odd issues when switching inputs, I chalked it up to handshaking between the TV and other devices.

Love the single cable idea of HDMI, absolutely CANNOT STAND the fact the monitor (TV) is now "talking" to each device connected via HDMI. Couple that with all the HDCP and DRM crap and I'm thinking maybe HDMI is TOO much of a good thing.

actually now that I think of it the fw updates on my Anthem D2 probably solved this issue.

I'm guessing that when I get a newer HDMI receiver and let it do the switching, it may solve the issue.

I will add that I was watching an SD-DVD tonight and switched inputs on the TV but the XA2 didn't restart the movie this time. Weird....

I have a brand new XA2(what an incredible player!) hooked up to my Mitz 73734 1080p/24 HDMI 1.3 tv. I have switched HDMI inputs while watching an HD-DVD over the last couple of days and have never experienced this(i have 2.7 fw as well).

My HDMI runs directly to the tv currently. I will be hooking it up to a pre/pro this weekend.

sounds like another one of those lovely protocol quirks across HDMI..
