Don't know if it'll work but that's the DTD.

That's what I came up with, too. Although I don't know how to respond to the "changed vertical refresh rate" comment... I think Powerstrip would have modified some other stuff (pixel clock?) if he did that. Unfortunately, this machine won't support 1920x1080, so I'm having a hard time trying the experiment.

just another quick question.... got my combo drive today and tried out some bluray and hddvd movies today and there was black bars and top and bottom... kinda like a regular widescreed dvd. is this normal or should the movie take up the whole screen without black bars on top and bottom?

movies i tried were: black hawk down (BDR), matrix revolutions (HDDVD), & transformers (HDDVD)

thanks again!

This is normal. It's a common misconception that a 16:9 screen provides a full screen image for movies.

see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anamorphic_widescreen

PS Did you do any further experimentation?

Wo0zy and archibael.

You are my heores!!

Many thanks.
With the above setting (as a start) I can with DTD tune the LCD to any 1080P refresh rate, even up to 60Hz, which I tried this morning.
This didn't work before with ATI, as then it limited to 50Hz.. And I thought it all was the LCD limiting.

Once again great thanks for your support.

i have wanted to adjust my plasma timing since i got my htpc over a year ago but had no way to tweak it until now. I hadn't been back to this forum in many months and i'm glad i did.

you guys rock! I'm sooooo much happier now!

Hey Guys.

Denmark calling for help here Installed the program and everything. But I seems to have trubble entering the DTD.

I need a DTD for my Panasonic Plasma TH-37PV500E. In the manual it says that it should be able to run the following res from the HDMI

1125 (1080) / 50 i hor. freq 28.13 Khz vert. freq 50.00 Hz
1125 (1080) / 60 i hor. freq 33.75 Khz vert. freq 60.00 Hz

Remember I am in the PAL area here

I tried to enter the "normal" 1080i DTD but with 1920 which did not work at all. Also tried just to alter the 1920 back to 1125 But for some reason it will not write that to the reg. This was the DTD I tried to alter.

02 3A 80 D0 72 38 2D 40 10 30 45 80 00 00 00 00 00 1E

What I dont quite get is that the TV manual also says it from the PC-VGA port can run 1280*1024 @ 60 Hz

Right now I have to look at 1184*666 at 60 hz which is then underscaned left and right and it flicker badly.

Any help from you guys please ?

Btw. I am completly new to the AVS forum here so be polite

Hi P.Viby,

We're always polite (honest)

Can you post the report from the Intel Graphics Tray? If you save it first, the resulting .txt will include the EDID information from your screen. If we can get this I'm sure we can come up with something for you.

Cheers,

Wo0zy.

Excellent.

Your starting DTD for 1080i@50 is

01 1d 80 d0 72 1c 16 20 10 2c 25 80 9a 26 53 00 00 9e

This is the value you need to enter into the reverse calculator for adjustment.

Don't forget, if there is already a 1920x1080 (or 1920x540) resolution selectable in the driver, you must adjust it slightly before saving to the registry so you'll be able to select it before using the tuning tools. All of these issues are covered in past posts but if you need further assistance please let us know.

Hey Wo0zy.

Okay entered the DTD adjusted it by 1 pixel to 1919*1080i and saved it. Works so I can select it but only with 25 hz as refreshrate ?? Was overscaned quite alot, but I did not try to adjust it before I can get it to work with 50 or 60 hz.

Here is the DTD I saved.

Bug in the Intel drivers. 50Hz interlaced is the same datarate as 25Hz progressive, and it reports it using the progressive number.

Haha, damn Intel have not done their job very well in making of the software driver. What surprice me is that the Intel hardware and driver is not brand new so how can they still mess it up after so long ?

Okay, I will use the the DTD I got now and try to tune it down to my screen size. Right now it is overscaned alot.

Keep you guys informed.

Btw. found out that when choosing some of the standard timings in the calculater it shows up with XX XX ...... and then the numbers, when trying to save that it bugs because of the X which is not a HEX number and therefore dont allow the change is my guess.

A little later....

Okay, got the Display to fit the screen. Ended up with this DTD.

01 1D 20 30 73 00 32 20 45 2C 05 84 9A 26 53 00 00 9E

Size is perfect now thanks to the Tune feature in the calculater. But the text seems blured or like alittle out of shape so it is very hard to read. I tried to adjust the dpi setting up to over 120 which helped alittle, but I thought I would have got super sharp image and text by now. Is this because I run interlaced and can it help to go up to 60 hz or is my Plasma screen just very bad ?

btw. I have tried to use the 8/12 divider rule so it is now 1824*1020 which did not help.

Some of it is no doubt down to the fact you're running interlaced and some of it could well be down to your plasma. Is there an "exact scan" or "just scan" option in the picture setup menu? This would help.

Also 1824*1020 is quite 16:9 so the aspect ratio is a little out. 1824*1026 would give you exactly 16:9 if you can afford to lose that many vertical pixels you could give it a try.

I know it's "forbidden" these days but 720p could be your friend

Cheers,

Hello !

(Sorry for my english, i'm french).

I have a problem: i have a Dell 640m (Intel GMA 945) and a Panasonic pt-ax200E projector (1280x720 native resolution) but maximum resolution is 1024x768.

How use 1280x720 on my projector ?

I have talked with Archibael on softwarecommunity.intel.com/isn/Community/en-US/forums/30248314/ShowThread.aspx#30248314 for find a solution, but nothing work !

I have tried :
BC 1B 00 A0 50 20 17 30 30 20 26 00 4B CF 10 00 00 19 => 1024x768 max
BC 1B FE A2 40 20 17 30 30 20 26 00 4B CF 10 00 00 19 => 1024x768 max
1C 1D 00 8C 51 D0 1E 20 20 38 46 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E
=> VGA don't work, the screen of the laptop is 800x600 (nothing on the videoprojector ), then returned immediately to 1440x900.
2F 1D 00 68 51 D0 26 20 28 30 22 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E
=> Only 800x600 aviable (not 1024x768)
1A 1D 00 8C 51 D0 1E 20 20 38 46 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E
=> VGA don't work

I read the projector' manual, and I find :
D2 1C 00 58 51 D0 25 20 20 18 F7 10 00 00 00 00 00 1E => 1024x768 max

Archibael said me :
"Wo0zy on the AVSForum knows a lot more about the DTDCalculator tool, and I'm sure he'd love to help out"

Can you help me ?

Okay changed it to 1824*1026 but the text is still not looking very good. I think I might have to live with this. Can you help me with the higest non-interlaced DTD setting for my screen ? Then I can use that one as desktop res. and the other one when using Media Center.

Hi AP2,

I guess the simplest way would be to search the registry for all "TotalDTDCount" entries and change the value to "0". This won't delete the actual DTD's but will stop the Intel Driver from displaying them and make DTD Calc think there aren't any so you can start again.

Hope this helps.

You could also change every DTD_x (where x = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) in the registry to 00. That's kind of the nuclear option.

BC 1B 00 A0 50 20 17 30 30 20 26 00 4B CF 10 00 00 19 => 1024x768 max
BC 1B FE A2 40 20 17 30 30 20 26 00 4B CF 10 00 00 19 => 1024x768 max
=> Only 800x600 aviable (not 1024x768)
1A 1D 00 8C 51 D0 1E 20 20 38 46 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E
=> VGA don't work

I read the projector' manual, and I find :
D2 1C 00 58 51 D0 25 20 20 18 F7 10 00 00 00 00 00 1E => 1024x768 max

Archibael said me :
"Wo0zy on the AVSForum knows a lot more about the DTDCalculator tool, and I'm sure he'd love to help out"

Can you help me ?

Hi Tazdunord,

Your English is far better than my French (respect).

I've come up against this with a few screens, the most recent being a Samsung Plasma. It had a native 720p resolution but for some reason this can only be achieved via HDMI.

Having said that is this the correct manual?

http://panasonic.co.jp/pavc/global/p...-AX200E_En.pdf

(sorry it's in English)

If so, have a look at page 45. It seems to suggest that 1280x720 and 1280x768 should be supported. Is this different to your manual?

You could try

E2 1D 00 70 51 D0 1E 20 70 30 55 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E
or
C4 1D 00 98 51 00 22 30 30 70 13 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E

Failing that

01 1D 00 70 51 D0 1E 20 70 30 55 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E

I also found this on another forum. I know it's not your exact model but it seems like many Panny users have issues with VGA

"I got the AX100 running off a HTPC. Orginally when it first came I played on it with a VGA cable since my DVI-HDMI cable hadn't arrived. The text didn't look like 1:1 mapping at all. But I found that was for two reasons, firstly I had keystone correction on and secondly I hadn't changed any of the settings (H&V). You can select auto and it works out."

This is refering to 1280x720@60

Let me know how you get on. If Archi is referring you to me I don't hold out a great amount of hope but you never know.

Cheers,

Wo0zy

What is it with the US of A and nuclear options

Sorry. Couldn't resist just one dig back

Actually, I was only referring him to you because it sounded like he was having problems getting the DTD written to registry with the tool. Any failure, once it's in the registry, to actually see the resolution show up as selectable is certainly an Intel driver problem.
