Hi Guys,

I saw No country for old man yesterday which is hands down one of my fav movies of all times now. But we went in 2 minutes late so I missed which studio made it. Does anyone know if its coming out on Blu Ray or Hd-dvd and when?

Thanks in advance.

It's a Paramount Vantage and Miramax production, and distributed theatrically in the USA by Miramax. I don't know who has home video distro rights in the US, but it seems like it'd be an HD-DVD exclusive studio:

Hmm I hope miramax has the rights for it. I dont want to buy a hd dvd player just for this movie.

I have the same concern for both this film and There Will Be Blood, by far my most anticipated film this year. No Country was great, and this movie just looks phenominal, but the whole joint Miramax / Paramount Vantage production of both makes me worry. I'm a neutral owner, but I don't like buying HD-DVD unless they're combos, and Paramount only does combos if they're trying NOT to sell Star Trek sets.

"No Country for Old Men" will come out exclusively on blu-ray.

"There Will Be Blood" looks like it will be HD DVD.

Netflix already lists "No Country" as a Blu-Ray title.

Are you guessing or is it announced somewhere? I hope you are right

Miramax will be handling the U.S. distribution of the home video for "No Country for Old Men," therefore Blu-ray. I got a feeling that we will be seeing this title at the end of February or March. So in the U.S. we have a good chance of getting the blu-ray, if Miramax/Disney opts to go the high-def route.

It seems that Paramount is handling both the theatrical and home video release for "There Will Be Blood" in the U.S. Therefore, HD DVD. Maybe Blu-ray across the pond.

I just hope that NO COUNTRY comes out in HD.

I get the funny feeling it won't...and if it does...I doubt it will be on the same release date as the DVD.

At least Fox had nothing to do with it! I'm not really familiar with Miramax's BD record, but Disney seems to be pretty faithful wrt making their new releases day and date right? So there's hope.

It may depend on how it does at the Oscars (and for that reason we may not see it until April or later). They did release The Queen, but I'd bet they wouldn't have done that if it wasn't for Helen Mirren winning Best Actress.

The Lookout was BD too.

And No Country has been getting awesome reviews on all acounts.

Diving Bell is getting good marks too. Miramax. Hell yeah.
Now where's Kill Bill?

Why? Fox does great with day-and-date releases.

They don't do well with non-mainstream releases though. They didn't release Little Miss Sunshine last year or Waitress this year. The Last King of Scotland didn't get released either despite a major Oscar win for Best Actor.
