Controller unable to sync?

I brought my controller over to a friend's house to play NHL08 with him and had trouble syncing with his PS3, but it eventually did through USB, then through Bluetooth. Troubles arose when I tried to sync back with my PS3. The controller did take a little smack during a fender bender, but nothing compared to what I've done to it after some online losses (note: cords save drywall). I've tried everything: reset the controller, soft reset the PS3, sync through USB, anything I can think of. I gave up and just did a restore, but no dice.

I'm now stuck at the first "plug in controller and press the PS button" screen, but I can't. The LEDs still flash like the controller can't find the PS3 and shut off. I'm waiting for a day off to pick up another controller, but is there anything I can do in the meantime? The BR remote won't work until I register it either.

Sats are down and so is my PS3. My TV is bored.

1. Make sure the controller is charged.
2. Turn off the PS3 (hit the switch on the back).
3. Connect the controller via USB1.
4. Turn the switch on in the back.
5. Hit the PS button on the controller.
6. Cross your fingers.

Let us know if that works. I just tried having my friend bring his controller over to play with another person last night, and his wouldn't sync up with bluetooth to my ps3. It did sync with the USB cable, but then when unplugged it would lose the sync. Ended up playing all night with it plugged in instead.

I wonder if he'll have problems on his system now. I thought it was weird that it wouldn't sync to mine though, it seems like it should be no problem to do.

Doesn't work. It seems like the controller is refusing to start up at all because I can't even get my computer to charge it. My guess is something did get rattled. I guess I'll pick up a new one tomorrow.

Turns out it isn't damaged at all. I guess the USB cable I was using wasn't too good, now both (I bought a new one) work. Some things are still getting ironed out with the old one, but it works fine now.

Good you got it to work.
Whenever I bring my controller over to a friend's, I just have to connect it to the usb once, and it is all synced and ready to go wireless.

New model of PS3 ? I remember when the 1st slim came out. Took a couple firmware updates before the controller stopped having to be re-synced.
