No it's not newer. The latest Sharp panels are the D64. The D82 is the sibling just one notch below the D92 which is the high end but is within about a month from it's announced replacement which should be coded D94. We won't know until CES in January but that is the time schedule for the D92 and siblings to be announced for 2008.
Though announcement should take place in early January there may be a 1-4 month replacement timeline for the K2 Plant panels in Japan. Glass made in Japan but then assembled in Mexico and shipped to N. America. The D92 is the highest end of Sharp line and it's replacement most likely will be code D94 (though with the banding history they may want a fresh start with a different code) and then should compete with the XBR4 and 71 Series of Samsung - They leapfrog each other annually it seems and it should be Sharps turn provided they can rid the banding event.
Present Japanese versions of their 65" have THX certified sound and a deeper black panel and that may migrate to the D94 for N. America. The continuation of sibling panels like D82 may depend on the success or failure of carrying so many underlings with varied spec's and whether it's proven profitable for Sharp and last year the siblings debuted months after the Big Brother panel the D92.
A 2008 Brochure should follow CES as it did last year and have all planned lines within it. First sighting I believe was ABT website and some member participants at CES posted other brochures from the Trade Show. Keep tuned for CES feedback from members and photo's from Vegas.
