No audio via HDMI from Motorola PVR

Hello all!

I have a motrola 6416 III box and can't seem to get the audio working via HDMI into my LCD. The video displays fine and my tv speaker is turned up. I have a pretty long (30feet) HDMI cable and thought that may be the issue. So, I connected it to my tv via a 3 foot HDMI cable and the problem persists. Is there any thing I need to activate on the box to get audio going?

Thanks for any input!

I'm just curious about this so I am bumping this thread.

I know my Philips 3575 DVDR has an option in the Setup menus for turning HDMI audio off in case you want the audio to go thru your AV receiver. Maybe your box has a similar option, and it's set for HDMI audio off?

Seems like I saw this problem reported in another thread, and the fix might have been in the settings as wabjxo suggests.

I am going to try to find that other post.

I had this problem too. I fixed it by changing settings on the moto6416 from DVI to HDMI. Since it was set to DVI it couldn't send audio.

Hmm......can't seem to find anywhere in my menu to switch that. Where is that option?

Try turning power off, press menu. There are some options and I believe one is the output type.

Hi everybody, here is a question which is a variation on this theme.

I finally got my new Cable/HD/DVR box and hooked it up yesterday.

I had bought an HDMI switchbox so that I could have the cable box and DVD player hooked up to the TV via a SINGLE HDMI cable. The reason being that my TV is on a rolling stand and I want minimal wires crossing the floor.

The TV works pretty much OK when hooked directly to the cable box (Scientific Atlantic 8300HD), but when I run it through the HDMI switchbox, there is NO SOUND!

I called Cox Cable tech support here in San Diego, the guy suggested powering down then back up in this order -- switchbox, cable box, tv.

Still no sound when I do it that way!

Why does running it through the HDMI switchbox (purchased from Monoprice) lose all my sound?

Is there any fix for this? If not I will just swap out the HDMI cable from box to DVD player when I want to watch a movie, just trying to make the setup a little more civilized.

Help please!

THANKS! ! !
