Trying to get the DVI out of my ATI 9000 AIW to the HDMI of my Samsung HLR5067wx

Hi. My TV is a Samsung HLR5067wx. (720p with VGA and HDMI inputs)

I have been outputting the DVI of my video card with a DVI to VGA adapter and have been sending it to the VGA input of the Samsung HLR5067wx.

I was thinking I could get an improvement by using a DVI to HDMI cable and sending the DVI output of the ATI 9000 AIW to the HDMI instead of the VGA input on the TV.

I plugged in the cable and I get the 'no signal or weak signal' message on the TV. I plugged it back in using the VGA method and the PC was definitely sending video...

Interestingly enough, when I unplug the DVI to HDMI cable from the PC, and leave it plugged into the TV, it skips that input when I cycle though. When I plug it into the PC again, it gives me the 'no signal or weak signal'; so it seems like something's making it to the TV.

Is there something that I should be doing on the PC side to make it send video in a way that my TV's going to like on the HDMI input??? I'm at a loss.

Make sure you are sending a resolution over DVI/HDMI that your TV user manual says it will accept over that interface,
The best resolution for you to send is 720p since that is the sets native resolution.

Where would I set the resolution that I'm sending? I would have to imagine that it's somewhere in the video card display settings, but haven't been able to find it...

When you go into display settings it should be on the general tab, something like 1280x720 as display size. I don't think the word resolution is used.

Oh! That makes perfect sense!!! 720p = vertical lines of resolution.

1280x720 = 1280 wide by 720 tall. Sometimes I miss the obvious!

Okay, I made sure that the video card is putting out 1280 x 720; and I still get "no signal or weak signal" when I connect the DVI to HDMI cable from the PC to the DLP.

But the HDMI input does show up as an option on the TV. (whereas when I unplug the HDMI cable, it bypasses it when cycling through inputs).

On the display settings, it's showing my "monitor" as a Samsung DLP even... I'd think it'd work.

Any further thoughts or things to try?
