Best sounding hard drive PMP with at least 30gb of storage? Preferably more

I've decided I'm ditching the iPod/iTunes combo because I've decided I'd like good audio quality now

I'm gonna start by reripping all my music into lossless format but before I do that I need to figure out what player I'm gonna buy. I don't care about video playback or any other features like that, I want this to play music and I want my music to sound as good as possible. I'd need at least 30gb of storage, 60gb or more would be preferable. I was thinking of getting one of the new Zunes as I understand they sound pretty good but I'm unsure about it for some reason.

Any suggestions? And when you give me your suggestions if you could tell me what lossless formats it supports I'd really appreciate it.

You will get the iAdio X5 answer alot. I have had an x5 for 2 years and a Zune 80 for a week. A sale is pending on the x5

I a/b'd the x5 and Zune with the same pieces of music. I left the iem's in my ears and moved the plug back and forth from player to player. Also did the same on my desk top monitors. I liked the zune better!!
Here is my quick review, after a week, I stand by it. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=946538

Awesome, sounds good. I think I'll go for the Zune/WMA lossless combo then. Anyone else find it ironic I'm using a Zune and WMA lossless on my Macbook Pro? Steve Jobs must have just felt a dark disturbance in the force.

I've heard mixed things about the iPod classic ranging from "It sounds just like every other iPod" to "It sounds great". I have nothing against iPods but I've come to the realization they just don't sound as good as other PMPs. Maybe the iPod Classic sounds great, I'll never know because I'm not willing to take a $250 gamble on it.

The Zune on the other hand I keep hearing great things about. Hell if people are comparing it to the X5 I'm impressed, I didn't know the X5 was still being touted as a great player but I remember almost picking one up a few years ago. I bought an iPod instead, mistake.

I will throw in my 2 Cents. I have a 30gb Creative Zen M and this is my second Creative product (first one was a 5gb Zen Micro that was replaced because I dropped it on the drive way when I was cutting the grass)

It does Video and Audio and the screen is very clear and bright. Battery life is very good and it has FM radio built in (Use it @ work every day) I would have gone for the 60gb but I got the 30 so cheap that it was a no brainer.

I would buy it again without a second thought.

I am a big fan of the Creative Players. I have had a MuVo that has been dropped numerous times over the three years I have had it, and still works great. The things I like about it are:

1) Good sound
2) Easy to Fill up with music, just drag and drop like a hard drive, no "helpful" cataloging apps.
3) Excellent support, they still update the software.
4) FM radio and Voice recorder.

If I were to replace it, I would buy the new 32GB Zen that has just been announced. For all the reasons above, plus a nice video screen (twice the size of a nano) and it plays standard (divx/xvid) movies.

Agreed, that's why I'm leaving it behind.

Anyway I think I'm gonna look into the Creative players they might make a good choice. The Zune looks pretty damn tempting though.

How do you all feel the Zune compares to the ipod if using the line-out dock connection of the players versus the headphone jack? From my research it seems many people agree that the ipod sounds much better this way and is it even possible with the Zune? I almost always use the line-out connection with my ipod for the car & home stereo.

Just curious,
My in-laws are in the market for a PMP.
