Ok, sorry I have not responded sooner, I thought I was subscribed to this thread. So I had more interest in possibly a group build of these controllers along with some requests for features. Since this probably won't be a huge number, I'd like to consolidate the requests for different features. Space is not too tight on the board, BUT the connectors on those cyron sticks are kind of large so I can't put lots of them on.
In order to keep cost and development time down, I am going to strive to use a standard footprint package + board that I have used on some other things. It will be the same size as the ps3toothfairy which in all but the very tightest installs, could easily fit behind a panel.
Right now it has control for all 3 channels R/G/B with 8 bits/channel and hardware modulation. You can input colors directly (i.e. type in the value you want) or use up/down to move through the colors. You use a regular IR remote to program the colors and save your "favorites" to the storage in the device. There are no buttons on the device, just a plug for power.
So here are the current requests:
a) USB Port
b) Serial port
c) Sound activated
#c does not fit into the original design goal, so I want to avoid doing that. #a is possible but will add cost. #b is possible but will add cost and it cannot be standard serial port connector, b/c they are just too big to fit on the back of the chassis.
The power connector is designed to work with the cyron power supply. You don't have to use that one if you don't care to, but it works so you don't really need to buy anything else (yeah, it is kind of big though).
There are probably going to be 4 connectors in the chassis for light bars. I will try to put as many as possible though. As of right now, the connectors are not the exact mating connectors for the light bars, but they function correctly and the silk screen on the PCB will indicate the proper orientation.
So are there any further requests or comments?
