Calibration - DVE or Avia??

I have both the DVE HD-DVD and the Avia II. I like the DVE more. I think their tutorials are better. I think their color test is better as well.

DVE helped me get a much better picture from my new samsung. it was way easy to use. if you are familiar with calibration then you probably don't need to watch the sd side. if not then just watch the sd side and then flip itto HD and use the patterns and bingo.

Is there really a difference between the HD and SD patterns on DVE? I have calibrated with the SD DVE through my HD-A2, would the HD-DVD be any different?

Are there any retail US stores that sell either disc? I would order it online but I'm impatient.

Well, as far as the Test Screens to Calibrate your Color/Tint with the BLUE Filter and Pluge Test Screen for Brightness, ... you'll get the same results between the SD DVD vs. HD DVD DVE.

The advantages of the HD DVD is the update 1080p Test Screens, ... vs. the 480 Test Screens upconverted to 1080p.

Since the HD DVD is a Combo, ... I sold my SD DVD DVE @ eBay!

Or you can download the calibration disk for one of the member here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=948496 Burn that iso file and calibrate your TV that way. I'm using that and got good results.
