Help, which used sub for $500?? eD A5-350 or SVS PB12-ISD/2

So I'm replacing my HTIB speakers and sub. I got in on the black friday prices at AV123 and ordered 2 pair of x-ls an x-cs and a ULW-10. The problem is that I'm having second thoughts on the subwoofer, I'll be using the setup exclusively for HT use and am worried the ULW10 won't quite do it for me. I've hit up craigslist in my area and found the following available used:

Keep the ULW10 for ~ $250 shipped
SVS-PB12-ISD/2 for $500
eD At-350 for $500
Martin Logan Depth for $500 - Edit, may have been a mistake it's been removed from CL now.

I've asked the sellers if they'd accept a lower price but haven't received any responses yet. My budget doesn't fit a $500 sub (it's about $325) but I could probably manage if everyone thinks I'd do that much better with one of these over the ULW10. Are any of these prices incredible deals?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I do not know where you see the SVS for $500?

The ULW-10 is not a good sub for HT. You will end up wishing you had bought something else.

You should see which Ed sub you can actually afford. The A5-350 is $600, but it will hold you for a long time. There are other subs in the $450-$600 range that are really good.

The Outlaw LFM-1EX is a leader in bang for the buck. Nicer looking than Ed but maybe not as much performance as Ed. If you decided on Ed, prices are going up on 1/1/08.

I would not get the ULW-10 under any circumstances. Lots of history on sealed subs from AV123.

Sorry for the confusion, those are prices that I can get used locally that I found on Craigs List. Edited my original post to clear up the confusion.

If you can really get the PB12 ISD/2 for $500, that should be a great sub for HT. That's my recommendation. If you're going to get an eD, might as well spend $100 more and get the new A5-350 - it's better than the one on craigslist, and NEW for only $100 more. Good luck.

A Martin Logan Depth for $500 is a fantastic deal! That sub used to sell for over $1500.

I'm thinking that the ML Depth may have been a mistake... I emailed the seller and an hour later the listing is now gone... I'm going to pursue the SVS though, hopefully I'll hear something from the seller.

Just curious, can you elaborate on this?

I understand the ULW not being a good HT sub due to it's size, being sealed, and it's lack of extension.

Are there other issues with av123's subs? I am considering getting an X-sub. I know it's not sealed...just want to make sure there aren't some issues with their subs that I don't know about.

Well the seller of the SVS got back and will only go down to $475. I did a bit of research and see the ISD/2 is the older model and it's in a tan color that I don't particularly prefer but I'm thinking this is a deal I can't/shouldn't pass up on. Any more thoughts on this?

The design of the X-Sub has been changed and there are no specifications on the changes. There is one picture of the new X-Sub next to the original X-Sub, posted on the AV123 Forum.

The changes may be an improvement, however, no one knows exactly what changes have been make. It looks like the port is larger, and the cabinet is taller.

I read about this on the forums over there. So far, there hasn't been an explanation about the change of the cabinet.

But as you point out, no one seems to know if that is the only change or if there were changes to any of the internals.

Being the seller, what do you mean by "better?"

Better to some people might mean getting it right away vs. a long wait.

I figured that he was talking about your sub. I have pointed a couple of people in your direction, but I do not know if they contacted you.

I was told it was the upgrade bug. I am pretty sure that he has an A7-450 ordered.

Just to point out, the ULW from the black friday specials has a new 500W amp and not the original 350W from before. Not saying this makes the sub a whole new beast, just that there is a difference with these particular ULWs. I guess it remains to be see just how much better the sub is now, although I think it is just basically now the UFW10 in the ULW box.

x a billion.

There's nothing different between Danke's and a new one other than no wait.

Well, that and he didn't use it first if you bought one from us. But it's a sub.

$500 + no wait = no brainer vs. buying from us and waiting until 2008.

Yeah, I said it.

Then if I were Danke, I'd hang on to the 15 until the 18 shipped and sell it on CL after the price hike. Being without a sub sucks .

ron, you are quite the businessman...i'm not sure if the buyers would appreciate this suggestion though.

...my comment was more about being subless for a few weeks. I think the price is fair and will be easier to hold to when the new pricing takes effect.

So what's the consensus on the eD vs the SVS?
I suggest SVS. REcently upgraded to an used PB12-ISD from Bic H-100. OMG this one rocks.

My bad. Your A5-350 is a great deal at $500. I had misread the OP and thought he was talking about the older A5-300, in which case there IS a difference. You're right - I'd buy yours at $500 + no wait as well .
