I posted this in another topic, but I thought I would start a new as well.
Ok, I am sure this question has been answered a million times in many forms but I hope you will bear with me and answer my specific questions.
My Son has his PS3 connected into our current home theater system. We have been taking advantage of its Blu-Ray capabilities and are enjoying the picture quality. My question is about updating my current Sony ES receiver. The receiver is about 9 years old supports DD5.1 and DTS. The PS3 is connected via optical cable. I have been looking at the Pioneer 92TXH and wwould use the HDMI connection. I have an NHT 5.1 system (I do not plan on upgrading to 7.1 in the near future) I also have a JVC 63" 1080p TV and a Comcast HD DVR.
Will I be able to take advantage of all of the audio formats available on Blu-Ray discs or is it true the PS3 does not output some of them?
Will I notice better sound via HDMI than with my current Sony ES receiver?
Also will I be able to take advantage of the PS3s ability to play SACDs with this receiver?
Audio quality is important to me, but I also have a dedicated 2 channel audio system.
Any other receiver opinions are also welcomed.
Thanks in advance for your responses.
