Oppo DV-980H vs. Sony DVP-NS77H/B

I'm looking for a new upconverting DVD player. My main concern is picture quality and the ability to play burnt DVD's. I was looking at the Oppo but it seems that you need to upgrade firmware to get it to play DVD-R's. Is that the case?

What do you guys recommend?

I've just bought Sony DVP-NS77H/B which played to Pioneer plasma 1080p. The picture is awesome to me. I'm sure Oppo will beat sony in any day, but for $100, i can live with Sony. Or you can get Sony Blu-Ray S300 at Walmart. I believe it has a deal going on ( with 10 free BD) I can't tell the price since it's the forum rule. Go to www.walmart.com and check it out. S300 can upconvert DVD to 1080p if your tv support it.
