Replacing the M-Board - Sony KD-32FS170...

We have a KD-32FS170 from Sony, and it had some discoloration on the left side of the screen. It was a stripped ripple effect on the side. The tv stopped powering on, and a tech is gonna replace the M-Board for us. Is there any change this will also remove the ripple discoloration?

BTW: There is nothing causing the ripple external to the TV. It seemed to be something caused by the circuitry, or the picture tube. It also seemed more prevalent on the Component video.

Thanks for any thoughts...

Greetings

Is this a CRT Tv? ... If yes, the ripple effect might be raster ringing ... caused by internal components interfering with each other ...

Yes it is a CRT Display. It is also flat. Does that mean that replacing the M-Board may fix the issue? If not what can be done to fix raster ringing?

Thanks ...

Has the set ever been dropped? Rippled color effects can be a damaged aperture grille mount.

No,

The set has never been dropped to my knowledge...

Well,

My set eventually wouldn't turn on anymore. After a couple of months of waiting and two service calls, the set is being replaced through the service plan I bought with it. Cool part is that they're giving me a discounted price on a new LCD TV, so I am grateful.

Sorry there is no resolution I can post for this thread other than the fact that I hope there is no ripple effect on the new LCD.

Kindest Regards,
