A Mac and Windows Movie Wallpaper GUI Generator for Media Players - Page 9

Repost of Message by JCTarvin in the M-6500A thread.

Question 1: It seems the GUI Builder uses the movie info file. Does that still work if the media file is an .iso? I guess it would as the .iso should contain the VIDEO_TS file folder.... right??

No. My TGB program doesn't actually use any of the media files. It merely uses the name of the movie's folder to form the search key when looking on the web for information. There isn't a particular file you need to create. You just have to make certain your media files are in movie folders, one movie folder for each movie.

Question 2: Have to build your own for .avi movies, right?

As per above, no you don't have to build a move info file. The program does build and store two files (coverart.guikuo and synopsis.guikuo) after it has processed a movie

Question 3: Seems like 1280 x 720 is a weird aspect ratio. DVD box images that you can snag off the internet are not in that format. I'm good with PhotoShop, so can I just make a black 1280 x 720 image and drop my XXX x 720 DVD box image on top and save it as a flattened jpeg?

1280 x 720 is 16:9 a common display ratio for home theaters and HDTV. I don't quite understand what you are trying to do with the described Photoshop manipulation.

The first move worked fine, however the second and subsequent movies would have the tvix.jpg of the previous movie. Deleting tvix.jpg and re-rendering fixes the current movie until moving on... Thanks for looking into this!

This might take a few rounds to figure out. My next suspect is the OpenGL driver getting its back and front buffers mixed up. 1.01 b003 tests that theory by forcing the Windows version to render the frame twice before saving.

Hi Guy,

I have just started to see a new problem with the software when used with my 6500. It occurs when browsing folders and you will see a whole screen full of the same image for each folder regardless of content. For instance, I have a kids folder and within that the various films they watch such as Snow White. In this case you will see a whole screen full of the image that is present for Snow White! The quick cure to this is to go in to another folder where you will see the correct image, return to the main viewing screen and they will all be back!

This can happen with a whole screen of the same image or, occasionally, simple two images the same for neighboring folders. Always the fix described above cures it.

Is this an issue with the 6500 or the software?

Cheers, Mike

Hi Guy

I tested new ver. 1.01 b003 now and i confirm, it works just fine now... with manual processing and with batch job.

All wallpapers are in correct folders. I forgot to tell in former posts that i use wireless connection from laptop to tvix trough samba server on tvix.

Great job... think about for PayPal option for contribution.

Thanks

Hello - I love this application, but it seems to have changed in a critical way.

I think it is great that it can look for artwork, but I used to be able to copy and paste my own artwork in if I wanted, (mainly because I always find the Amazon artwork really poor - I prefer the film posters, to the ugly DVD cover) - apparently this no longer works.

Is this deliberate - or is there an option I'm missing?

DukeV, you can still drag and drop your artwork to the redering view and it works fine for me.

Hope this help.

I do this all the time as I too prefer the movie poster images (see a few earlier posts for this). I tend to let it process in batch mode then go back over to correct where needed. I then alternate switching the 'automatically paste text and pics' option as I don't always want to replace all of the text (for instance when the synopsis is a bit out). So, turn the option off for inserting portions of text then back on when I am off hunting for the images - works great!

That would be a M6500 firmware problem. TBG can't change the images after the program is no longer running. Sounds very much like a bug the 5100 firmware had several revisions ago.

Could you describe your computer setup (OS version etc) and which browser and website you are using to get the artwork? From your error report it looks like the program is receiving either an empty or invalid picture in the clipboard. I'm just now uploading 1.01 b004 which should detect the problem in the clipboard and avoid a crash, but that doesn't solve the problem of your browser getting the picture into the clipboard in the first place.

Some sites like IMDB include protection against browsers copying the images.

Feature added in v 1.02 b001

Now you can rename a movie folder from within TGB. To do so, click on a movie folder name and hold down your mouse for > 0.5 seconds. A dialog will appear in which you can edit the folder's name.

Still have a problem with my movie collection folder when opened showing several movie folders as a file folder image and not the movie cover image. When that particular movie folder is opened the image of the movie cover along with text is displayed properly. The majority of movie folders display the proper movie image on the folder. When I turn off my Tvix 4100 and reboot sometimes a different movie folder doesn't display properly. Any ideas?

4100 firmware problem. Can't fix that from my program.

General problem shooting is to use your OS (NOT the TViX) to look into each folder and verify whether or not the appropriate files were generated by TBG. If the right files are there, it's a TViX firmware limitation.

The only thing that might (remote possibility) is to do the icons without 16:9 compensation. Perhaps the 4100 firmware is old enough to be more restrictive about what size icons it will accept.

i'm french and i would like to said "MERCI" for you great software.

And yes, as Jeff7506 ask, it will be nice to add some french web site. It does exist 3 ou 4 "usable".

May be (i dont know if it's complex) the best will be to put some parameters telling your program where and how looking for text and graphic ?

Against BRAVO....

Guy Kuo, one more idea could you add functionality to connect to Tivx using ftp ?

Thanks for you great work.

Best regards

Thanks Guy - I am using 10.5.2, with Firefox 3.0b3 - as you say, the problem is with the browser, and as it is a beta it would be a little unreasonable to ask you to support it. No doubt it will copy correctly in the future.

It works fine with Safari, thanks Guy.

Noticed a problem in the AmazonUK parser. It keeps reverting back to Amazon.com during its searches. Working on a fix and investigating practicality of adding amazon.fr and amazon.de. No promises on the additions. Every additional site means writing a new parser for each parameter to be fetched. It's currently 10 parameters so the work load is not trivial.

If I understand what you are asking, that capability is available under the Utilties pane of my program.

"Enclose Files in New Folders" may be what you need.

Version 1.04 b001 is now available.

This should fix the amazon.co.uk reverting to getting info from amazon.com problem.

Amazon FR and Amazon DE required some rewriting to work with the extended character set, but they are now supported.

Amazon FR is considerably less consistent in its data format and therefore difficult to parse. I was not able to retrieve all information categories consistently. It is usable and usually can get the French language synospsis, but I would suggest letting another site act fill in the other data which Amazon FR does not supply.

I believe that can be done. However, you will need to restore your files to their previous state before any new code can redo the work as you requested.

yes np.. Thanks again

I don't know about anyone else but with v1.04 b001 the problem has come back for me.

Also, in an unrelated issue, it is not getting the MPAA rating about half the time in assisted mode. The rating is there when I go to the web sites - IMDB or Amazon.

Thanks for making your program available. Great Work!
