Doing a bit of early research for my up-coming sub encloser. Two-15" drivers could be used in and opposed firing configuration. 3ft working volume roughly per driver, if anything possibly to the + side of that by maybe another .25ft to .50ft. So 3ft to 3.5ft^³ max "at the biggest".!

The Dayton Ref/HO's I really would like to try but their limited excursion is of concern. But,,, given their very low distortion & extremely clean sound makes them very appealing. Their reviews and measurements show it's not hype for sure, REF/RSS HF & HO's are simply excellent drivers.

John J. of AE/Stryke is supposed to be releasing new drivers sometime in January. The new AV/v²² 12's and 15's are supposed to be back and improved. Word has it 23/24mm Xmax and 28-30mm Xmax Mech. Le is supposed to have dropped substantially. Lower Fs also supposedly with other TSP's in the same ballpark area of the first gen AV's. So while this is mostly tid bits dropped here and their, just what exactly is true and the final TSP's will be are still unknown. Most importantly will the new AV Drivers be brought back as teased about & if so will they be released in January sometime as rumored.

I'm sure their are some, maybe quite a few 15" drivers I'm either un-aware of, or just have not looked much into.
Tempest-X, Titanic etc.

Ohm loads per driver, SVC 4-2-ohm or DVC-2+2 or 4+4-ohm is not a problem.

Currently I have a design using 4-12" SVS ISD drivers, which I have a closet full by the way, (17.5mm Xmax), but I'm still looking around as the sub build is aways of, early spring "most likely". This is a stand for my up-coming LCD or Plasma purchase, hence the opposed mounting. Given my working dimensions 18" drivers are out of the equation as the 1.5" baffles are only large enough to handle 15's or smaller.

I've even looked into a PR design but, currently NO 15" high excursion variable mass loading PR's seem available. Like the old Stryke 15's which would work well. Only the 18's that CSS is handling, and they are fixed mass/Mms PR's and being built by AE for CSS. Of course AudioPulse TC-Sounds 15" VMP's are and option if you got a fat wallet.
Really prefer NOT to go PR'ed but, something I would look into further if someone can locate 15's that are not the cost of my next PEQ.

So, any 15" drivers to look into that might work in 3ft^³ preferably, to as much as 3.5^ft³.???
Again, this is working volume per driver, NO fill added as of yet.

Bottom line I'm trying to get as much VD as possible with some Xmax to play with on the low end for possible/likely PEQ-ing.

Thanks
Geoff

PS. Mega buck drivers are out, $200 and up. I'll just go with what I have here piled up for drivers. I'll make something work but, always looking like everyone else for the next new price to performace champion.
