Nezff that room u got is nice so how do the a7-450 sound how low can u get them to play?
I havent had a lot of time to play yet. I did play a 20 hz test tone through them at lower volume and the doors were shaking. Wow

I'm wondering is it would be a good idea to start a official eD a7450 sub thread considering there aren't many people with them. There is a jtr cap thread which is essentially a competitor to the eD

I think that would be a great idea.

Will the FMOD prevent bottoming out and allow me to keep the sub at 75db?

Welcome to A2-300 ownership. When it works, it is a great little sub. But when it bottoms out, you will be chasing your tail trying to figure out why and how to stop it. I gave up on mine after a while. Practically gave it away on craigslist just to not deal with it anymore.

And wait until that plate amp acts up and ED says the popping is normal because of the capacitors discharging. Guess what, it didn't happen when new, my Super cube 1s don't do it, and my new HSU VTF3 doesn't do it. Just their way of not honoring a warranty claim when it started happening. Hope you have better luck than I did!

wow, very informative answer...NOT

to the original poster any sub will bottom out if you push it hard. Happened to my hsu 3.3...the first question, did you play this material before at the same level and not have a problem only to now play it again and have it bottoming out?
also, are you using audyssey?
My a2-300 only bottoms out when I crank it past it's capability. You either have a defective unit or you're pushing it harder than it can go. Unless there isn't a limiter by design in the a2-300... I suggest better calibration/ buy a more capable subwoofer.

This is a good loaded question.

Nezff, why do you keep asking if he has an Audyssey enabled receiver, yet earlier you said Audyssey was never a problem? And some people had issues with sub? Which is it.

mrcoop, my reply was actually VERY informative. Stop reading what you want instead of the actual facts that are posted. I posted EXACTLY what happened in MY situation while I owned an a2-300. Not any speculation or "things I read on the forums".
Do you have an a2-300 calibrated by Audyssey?

I posted MY experience so anyone having issues would know they are not the only one that had issues with these subs, especially if running Audyssey. Because that is what I owned and the receiver I had was an Audyssey enabled unit. And also so they will know what to expect if they call ED for some tech support....

Umm, actually it wasn't. You did a good job at an attempted bash, but you know where near answered the question. Facts...did you read the question or just saw an oppurtunity to bash?

If posting a similar experience with t he SAME exact sub is a bash, you my friend, are a fanboi!
nope, not a fanboy...the guy was just looking for some help...great job in helping him out!
Don't jump on me Joey for asking a question.

I wanted to know if he was using audyssey and if so which flavor. Audyssey has a tendency to boost the lower frequencies which in turn could bottom the sub out. I said I never experienced it with MY a2300, but did with my dual a5350s because I ran them both hot 9dbs.

Do any of you guys get the feeling ED is on the way out? going out of business eventually?

First they slashed their product line, basically all ported subs remaining. Not even their well received 18" sealed sub survived that.
Now their selling some of their leading subwoofer drivers at fire sale prices.

http://blog.edesignaudio.com/?p=1736

I get the feeling ED is on the down slope, unfortunately. Perhaps the very tough business climate coupled with amp failures, parts/amp availibility issues, spotty customer service issues are finally taking its toll.

No. I disagree. IMHO they cut some of their line for that reason, to keep up with supply and demand. They were tired of pissing their customers off and are keeping and selling in stock subs only.

Per eD you should not run Audyssey or you will void the warranty.

I guess HSU "says" this also since there are members that have had similar bottoming out issues with audyssey?

Please show me where Hsu has ever stated that running Audyssey will void the warranty. I was told by eD on the phone when troubleshooting my A2-300 that running Audyssey will void the warranty and there are multiple people that have had their warranty voided by eD and had to buy new parts on their own dime.

There is no comparison between eD and Hsu customer service and the buying experience. I will never buy another eD product again.

Wow. That's news to me. Guess I'll have to ask Alex about that?

You should. I can point you to other posts by eD owners if you would like more evidence. eD really needs to make it clear on their website and when buying their products that running Audyssey will cause driver damage and void the warranty.

Like I said, last eD product I will ever own.

I've had a couple issues with ED but they were fixed quickly I even got called back to check to make sure everything was working like it should be. Sub sends the cat running... he's not a bass head. I have to wonder how many people that have issues with their CS are actually using the phone vs email.
