I don't think they're in a strong financial position to help out other than selectively and often with great delays. Although they offer warranties, when they source their drivers and amps, the suppliers generally don't have warranties and most certainly not 5 year ones. ED as a company is small potatoes and cannot command any leverage when things go wrong. So when they buy, they buy a little extra in anticipation that a certain percentage of customers will have problems. That's a cost that's built into the pricing structure but if that percentage goes up (remember the MFW amp fiasco?), that severely cuts into profits. Couple that with the fact that Chinese suppliers are requiring larger minimum orders along with the general economic malaise as well as having to pay up front for parts (no more terms of credit
) and ED finds themselves in the mess they're now in. If they honor the warranties, then there's no parts to build product. IMO it's not they set out to be disreputable but in order to stay in business they find themselves in a situation of borrowing from Peter to pay Paul except I think it's more dire than that.

I emailed eD but haven't heard back. It's outside of warranty, but I thought I remembered that they did cheaper replacement amps for people in my situation, does anyone know about that? Also, if I decide not to get a replacement through eD, is there any other plate amplifier that would offer 200 watts for a decent price that's also available easily in Canada?
My reading of the warranty (not for the amp bought separately) is that the sub is warranted for 5 years.
